Morning all! Just wondered whens a good time to start eating salad after rny? I have a massive hankering for a greek style salad with feta and just salads in general, really doesn't make any mention on my meal plan.

I didn't try salad til about the 3 month mark because I was a bit nervous of it - no idea why!!! I think my info said to introduce it last because it's a bit more difficult to digest raw veg/salad.

Hi salad needs cutting with a knife and fork so comes in the third stage on the Phoenix food plan., so I think you will have to wait a while. Charlie the dietician dated all my times when I should move from one stage to another.

Ah another phoenix-er! Which surgeon? Haven't even asked Charlie about salads. She was very helpful on purees though and in general tbh.

Prof Kerrigan did my bypass. I was in the countess 4 weeks with complications and a bleed. ICU for a week so glad to be home for the last week.

Wow! Sounds like you've been through a lot! I was done by him too. Ive had a bit of muscle pain (still have it) what date was your op?

I still havent eaten salad with my sleeve at 7 months. I stick to melon, grapes and oranges. I know some people have had issues with lettuce so thats one to watch.

I had my surgery 23 Feb. I have a large open wound being packed daily by district nurses due to haematoma and cellulitis post bleed in bowel and flank

Ask your team but I wasn't allowed salad until week 10.

I came out if ICU that day to 41 was always in side room

MESSAGE FROM MODERATION

The purpose of this forum is to offer mutual support to pre and post oppers.

Can I ask for an end to the 'can I eat this' 'can I eat that' threads? Not one of us is qualified to answer that. Whilst we can tell you what we did it appears that if that's not what you want to hear it doesn't go down very well.

If you want to know what and when you can eat, contact your surgery provider and do only what they tell you.

Thank you.
