3 Days post op

Hello Everyone,

First of all i would like to say how great use are all doing i have read many of your success stories! :)

I have 3 young children under the age of 7 & i tried every diet possible so i have not rushed into this thinking it was a quick fix.

This is my first night home and i am in so much pain
I had three operations in one. Gastric Bypass, Hernia, Adhesions (bands of scar tissue that attach to organs after c section)

My problem is i cant sleep in hospital or at home.
I was told i would be able to stay at hospital until i felt comfortable being mobile then i felt like i was shanghaied out of there on day two to make space. Even though i still have not passed wind :(

I can feel my staples when i move too, i just want this pain to fade so i can be more mobile, I have just taken my pain relief so hopefully will feel better soon!

Anyway early morning rant over, goodluck everyone & keep being sucessful in your journeys.

Danni x

Pain is hell isn't it. I'm up too as the pain is too bad at the moment. Hope your post-op pain passes soon, these early days are a bit rubbish but hang on in there and don't over do things. Gentle very short walks (round garden/to then end of my road) were useful for me in my early days, oh yes and LOTS of pain killers :)

Hi Jemima,
Thank you i literally am trying to do things at a snails pace.. even though i just cleaned my kitchen but no bending involved just my sides i cleaned.
I just took my other pain relief and hoping i can fall asleep soon. I am eating little and often but can only manage 1-2 teaspoons without getting a urge to be sick.
Hope the pain passes asap! Take Care, Danni x

sorry to hear of your pain ,I can only hope it passes soon in the meantime try and keep mobile and pop the pills if they help
the gas will come soon enough!

Hi Danni

Good to see you on the losing side and sending positive waves your way. Take it very very easy. It really will get better each day.
So sorry to hear you felt pushed out of the hospital, did they give you anything for the wind?

Chrissy x

Hello Los In It,
Thank you for your advice, much appreciated, i am constantly on my feet other wise i feel tired all the time, in fact i even went shopping to Tesco before with a friend who kindly leant into my trolley and carried my bags.
The painkillers definitely help otherwise i wouldn't be able to move at all.
Keep up with your success story & hopefully it will be a matter of time where i can share mine too :) Danni x

I too had multiple surgeries. Adhesions. Endometereosis and a band. Also a liver repair as surgeon nicked an artery into my liver and hav a few staples. I was not in too much pain but totally exhausted. You will get there honest dxxx

Hello Chrissy,
They never gave me anything for the wind i wish they did :(
I had to call the hospital early this morning, i was having a reaction to the Tramadol, i was cold but the sweat was dripping of me & i felt like i was going to be sick, they said if it gets worse call an ambulance.
I was given Tramadol capsules as the pharmacy sent up the wrong item at 4:30pm for when i was getting discharged at 7:30pm so i have to empty the capsules out onto a spoon and mix in water so its like a paste. Because they didn't notice it wasn't liquid until the pharmacy had shut.
I am just keeping mobile so i don't end up dozing of every 30 minutes :\

I find reading all your stories is a fab distraction from my pain :)
Trying to figure out when i am supposed to weigh myself whether it should be weekly or monthly :\
Take Care Danni x

Hello KurstyWursty,
Thank you for your message, i have had staples before with previous c section but i have 8 stab like wounds and these staples feel like they are barely in, in fact i can clearly feel one and see one through my dressing, once this pain fades i will be rearing to go haha.
Goodluck on your journey hun & glad you wasn't in too much pain !! Take Care Danni x

How are you feeling now Danni? Any improvement?

Hello Chrissy,

I am feeling much better now thank you for asking, i have managed to open bowels several times so that has eased the pain, still in pain but hoping by the time i get my staples out Friday it will ease more.

I had a major concern though, i was having to choose pain killers & food or dis-solvable medication & 2 portions of food per day,
I contacted my Dietician & explained all to her including telling her by the time i have taking the dis-solvable medication i am physically bloated so she is now allowing me to take my pain relief, A-Z multi vitamin tablet crushed & food,
which is much better for me now.

I have lost 1 stone in 1 week so really happy :)
been doing small walks as i was feeling like a prisoner locked in haha
i am usually outdoors most days!

Take Care, Danni x

It is great to hear you are on the mend. Those walks should help. Just take it easy and build up gradually. It's Funny how our BM's can make all the difference.
Thanks for the update.

Chrissy

Hello Blade,

I don't know if you have misunderstood me, by food i mean soups, yoghurt, blended beans, chicken, mash, peas, jelly etc

I have to have Pureed Food for 4 weeks, as choices above,

then Soft food for 4 weeks, eggs, custard, cornedbeef hash, spaghetti, veg curry etc,

then solid low fat, toast, omelette, salad, jacket potato, breakfast biscuit, wrap, etc

Hope that helps :)
Take Care, Danni x

Thank You Abigail :) Danni x

Crikey Danni, did you really drop 19lbs in you first week? No wonder you are shattered. Hope you are feeling better each day.

Hi Chrissy,
thank you, yes i did & i lost 7lb this week :) !
Had me staples out but they put stitches tape across as i have history of wounds opening,
They come off on Friday :)
Been agony getting up and lying down, can only lie on my back as my insides feel like they are tearing apart when i move my stomach muscles :(
Hoping they wear off soon !!
Hope your well :) Take Care, Danni x

I hope the pain reduces for you soon also it doesn't sound like you are getting much rest. Rest and protein are healers :) The weight loss is amazing, I am assuming you did. preop diet as well.

Well done Danni.
