Life insurance and critical illness cover

I've just been reviewing my life cover for my mortgage and thought I'd look at critical illness too.
Considering the benefits of wls are meant to be reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, strokes etc the insurance company has refused to cover me for critical illness because of the surgery!!!! And they want to put the premiums up on my life cover!!!

What's that about??? Do they know something I don't about long term problems with wls??

I think they latch on to anything to get more money :-( probably nothing to worry about xxx

I have a colleague who had a gastric balloon 2 years ago, had it taken out fairly quickly as couldn't tolerate it . Since then lost weight , exercises etc but has had a real battle with insurance companies over premiums. Her annual travel insurance was hoiked by 200 quid! It's not about health as such but risk from an insurance perspective, there is likely a computerized algorithm that places us in high risk group

I have mine thru work and don't have to complete any forms thankfully. I have really good life insurance (10 times my salary) and would hate that to become more expensive.
