Nearly 4 months since my op and my hair is falling out quite a bit now started to notice this a couple of weeks ago. I have very fine hair to start with any tips on this would be appreciated. I'm taking all the vitamins etc and don't use heat on it I only wash it a couple of times a week.Is there any supplements for helping with hair loss after having a bypass ???

I really don't think anything has a noticeable effect on hair loss a good cut can make it look thicker, I was really lucky I had/have very very thick hair so my loss wasn't noticeable, but the new hair is rather curly which is odd as my hair before was pretty straight, I hope your's stops falling out and starts growing soon x

Thats just a thing you have to love through. Make sure you eat enough protein and a good balanced diet plus the supplements recomended by team (calcium +vitd3, multivitamin and iron+folate is my teams ones).

My hair was falling out badly. It started around 3.5 months post op and gradualy got worse.. Up to until around 6 month post (when it was the worst). I did loose at least half of my hair i think! I had to cut it a lot shorter and the hair is not shiny as it used to be plus my curls relaxed a lot too... Then around 9 months post op it suddenly stopped (well i still have some hair falling out but everyone does ) and i do have lots of fluff and frizz (regrowth) now.

I keep using coconut and castor oil plus egg protein hair masks.

My hair is already really short so I guess I will have to get used to the bald look for now lol.On the upside I wont need to fork out for many haircuts in the near future.

Thanks for your comments ladies :)

Ive got hairloss around the hair line and its something I was told could happen and there is not a great deal you can do about it other than increasing your protein in your food and in time your hair will grow back plus a good haircut can help if only to make you feel better

I have a thick head of hair and I had quite severe hair loss around my hair line. I'm 2 years post op in August and With my hair growing back in, it is totally uncontrollably frizzy! I'm grateful but my hairdresser found it quite amusing.

In terms of helping right now - have you thought about using hair inserts that clip in? If it really bothers you m, you can get cracking hair colour matches these days.

Either way... Fear not! So long as you take your vitamins and calcium and all the other stuff you get given it will sort itself out very soon. A little later in the process you'll notice that you've got awesomely while nails from the calcium also :) every cloud and all that x

I am still suffering with hair loss,
my hair used to be very thick now it's not,
i take all my medication & it still falls out 1 year post op.
But my Dr has stated if my hair doesn't stop falling out there is medication to aid it.
Hope that helps :) Danni x
