Delicate subject but.... flactulence?

Hi,

So I've been doing some research about the bypass and found some people on an American website reporting how bad their flactulence was post-bypass. They were having to buy special "smell-filtering" underwear the smell was that bad :/

I'm just wondering how people have got on with there's? I don't want to be constantly worrying about making a smell in public for the rest of my life....

No worries here, mine are the same as before !

I had read about that too but when I did eventually break wind it was odour free and a great relief as the trapped win pain had been killing me. Had my bypass 8 weeks ago and I hardly ever have to trump :D

I find the smell is effected by what you eat just like it is for everyone normally. After bypass you will learn what your body likes and what it doesn't. I can eat anything but my body hates oily/ fried foods with a passion. It can tolerate sugar and alcohol to a certain extent so if I am going to have either I know when to stop. So last night I indulged in a some Chinese takeaway with friends last night and this morning I visited the bathroom three times in the space of two hours and any air that came out smelled like death!
However If I eat foods that work well for me then I don't have any issues. So I would suggest that those people may need to revisit what they are eating rather than buying new underwear ?

One thing I have noticed, when reading American forums, is that one of their go-to foods for the puree and mashed stages is refried beans. That might explain their problem :8855:

Like the others I have not had any changes really and my body reacts pretty much like Caroline's

Haha! Well any kind of beans play havoc with my digestion as it is, so yes that may well explain it! :D
