Does Bougie size matter?

Its just a guide that the surgeon uses to butt the stapler up against, when forming your VSG. The closer s/he gets to the guide the 'tighter' /truer to guide the sleeve is. During surgery the bougie is inserted into your mouth down your throat, towards the end of yer stomach where it meets the pylorus via an esophagheal dilator. After the new stomach is formed, the bougie/guide is removed out of your mouth, possibly why some VSGrs
complain of a sore throat post op.

Copied and pasted it lol

lolage that read so well i thought blimey she seriously read up on this stuff! My guess is the surgeon will use skill and judgement, email him or her and ask, thats what they there for

Some doctors use bigger bougie sizes, to lower the risk of leaks. But the good thing with the sleeve is that they take away most of the part of the stomach that makes us hungry.

I was considering the band but when I read that many people weren't losing weight, I knew I couldn't risk it. And the risk of it slipping and me having to get it taken out.

for me it was slippage, fills, repeat costs to have it filled, time off work (I'm self employed and time off is unpaid) but worse the surgeon said no one has had one in longer than about 15 year and they need replacing, i just felt the math didn't add up, at 38 i didn't want repeat procedures every 5 - 8 years at such a cost. No a sleeve was just right for me, a new life a new healthy way with food not ruling me anymore. I'm a greedy grazing cow and can wolf food like a french goose near xmas! x i know for me it is right, I'm not as big as many and i know some will be surprised the actin I'm taking but after recent health issues its key i now maintain healthy weight and BMI, that and the fact my back and hips are in a critical state that not repair and i have boobs that weigh more than an Eddie Stobart Truck ...EACH! ha ha
get blooming rid!

Oh so you had the band already, my BMI is quiet low too, always struggled to lose weight and when I have managed to lose some by going on these yo yo diets the weight has just come back when I started eating properly, you become so proud of yourself when you are losing weight but when it comes back again :( it's like a vicious circle.

You'll be fine hun you'll soon be on the losers bench.

no sorry didn't mean to confuse, i chose sleeve I'm due to go 6th Oct for surgery on 7th abroad x can't flipping weight... lol pun see what i did there (weight/wait).... I'm sick of owning wardrobes in 5 dress sizes, yo yo expensive diets, pills, shakes and all of it i want to live life.

Im going to do photos, before and after and all in between, i shall look over them regularly to show myself where i came from and where i never want to be again. Not to go public but for me. Ill put the all embarrassing stats on too day or so before surgery as I dread the scales.

Im like a last supper freak currently.
