Weight Loss Stop!!

Just wanted some opinions...I'm two weeks post op (sleeve) today and weighed myself this morning and haven't lost anything this past week and a bit perplexed as to why...?? Has anyone else had this - I would have expected the weight loss to slow down at some point but not to not lost even 1lb on the second week.

I've lost 2 stone in total (10lbs pre op and the remainder post op) but feeling really dispondant as nothing this second week...Any thoughts guys? I've followed the liquid diet and consultants comments to the letter...

Your body has been through a massive trauma its bound to do funny things, give it time, also make sure you are keeping a record of measurements as often you lose inches even if the weights not dropping :)

Dont panic vixter as butterfly says your body has been through a major trauma and there is a lot of swelling to contend with. Its going to take a couple of weeks for that to settle down and for the body to comprehend what has just happened to it. All its energy is getting put into healing at the moment and any weight loss is hidden by the protective fluid the body has put there to protect the damaged tissue. Allow your body to do the repairs and in a couple of weeks the weight will start coming off again :)

Thanks both...as I'm sure you know it is rather disappointing when the scales show no loss :(

I didn't have time to do the measurements this morning so will do that tonight - I've kept a record of pretty much everything since when I started the pre-op diet and when I say everything, I mean everything lol (arms, neck, boobs, under boobs, waist, hips, thighs and calfs lol!!)

im about 8 weeks post wls (bypass) and I too stalled for a week or so and was a tad disappointed ,I just expected foolishly to be always losing weight but like butterfly lady and femfrankie say its true your body has to recover and then the weight will fall off ! it will happen remember your only a couple of weeks post op
good luck with the weight lose

You lost a huge amount pre-op so your body is most likely re-adjusting. I had no pre-op diet and my weight lost in weeks 5-8 post op was very slow (1lb here and there). I queried it with my surgeon and he explained that there is nearly always a stall around the 4-6 week mark.
It will re-start.

I'm 9 weeks post op and its about 10 days since I have had a weight loss. I've done a lot of reading on this site and I know it's par for the course but it still feels awful. I'm just biding my time and crossing my fingers. I know it'll start up again but it doesn't make it any easier. Keep doing what you're doing. We'll both get there eventually

Unfortunately it is par for the course, and it isn't the only time it will happen either. I know a lot of people stall quite often, body's can be strange things. Don't let it bother you too much although I know that's easier said than done.

OMG I was sleeved on the same day as you by the Prof as well! And I am in exactly the same boat as yourself! Two weeks out, lost 2 stone as well, and have remained exactly static for a week as well. Annoying I know, but I gather it's par for the course.

I am a week today. Thank you Vixter101 for this question, and the answers received. Helps a lot.

Ahhh small world - where did you have yours done? I was at the Spire Manchester - would have been good to have seen someone else with my op but on the nurses board I appeared to be the only one with the prof as my consultant :( how are you finding it?? I'm finding this week so much easier apart from horrific problems over the weekend...but early jump on the scales indicate a potential loss this week so I'm happy :)

How are you finding things one week out Willow? I'm doing much better apart from awful problems over the weekend but feeling more human now!! Just munching on a baked potato (plain just a tad of butter) for my lunch at work...yummy yummy... initial early (sneeky) weight shows a potential loss again this week so looking forward to friday to get on my scales lol!! It gets easier but we're on the road to a whole new life now so all is good :)
