Reality Check Time

Sorry this intro is boring - so the band is in and I am steadily losing weight.

Before I decided on surgery I had got myself a personal trainer as I was so worried about how much weight I had put on. I was working with him for some months, getting very peed off that the weight wasn't shifting. Then I became ill and didn't go to him for a while, in the interim decided to have the band. My kids bought me some sessions with him for my Christmas present so I could go back to him post op. Today was my first sesh with him in about 7 months. What an eye opener....

Reality check 1 - when I started going to him, so, so worried about my weight I was 12 whole kg, about 2 bloody stone LIGHTER than I was when I decided to go for surgery a few months later. How/why on earth did I abuse my body so much in a few short months and put on all that weight? Where was my head?

Reality check 2 - I put on a weight vest today, equivalent to my total weight loss of around 25 kg and tried to do a few simple exercises, all of a sudden my knees starting hurting, I was breathless.....and I lugged that around with me all the time

Reality check 3 - I didn't measure at the start of my WLS journey, but the trainer had some measurements from my first session with him, so today, bearing in mind that I have been heavier its 5 inches off hips, 5 off tummy, 2 off each arm etc etc. In reality I must have reduced by more than that

Reality check 4 - there were exercises I couldn't manage previously, I thought because of my age. Nope, it was because I was too bloody FAT because I breezed it today....

Onwards and upwards, one of those days when you just know its all going to be good.

Thanks for reading!

Wow! Well done, I am so excited for you. I had a personal trainer all last year and the workouts used to kill me but I can so relate to you, because the weight just would not shift! I am so excited to go back after my surgery.
How many weeks post op are you now?

Good luck and I hope you keep enjoying your PT sessions!

I am now 14 weeks post op. It was a real revelation doing squats with a 25kg vest on, no wonder it knackered me before! It's weird, I feel that my head and body are in sync for once, exercising today I could feel that I was doing it properly and it felt so good (instead of faffing at it and whining that I was out of breath)
