I didn't really get a choice ( I am not complaining though). I changed GP surgeries last year and my new GP surgery is fab. and I went to see her in July 2010 about another issue and she suggested surgery to me and she had another patient that had gone through it at Walsall and that their eperience was good and she would refer me directly to the hospital. She totally bypassed(no pun intended) BENPCT's criteria and referral route.

I didn't have to do the 6 months weight management etc (Although my GP was aware I was doing some kind of dieting/exercise/weight management since I was 13).

When Walsall requested funding BENPCT originally refused as I hadn't followed its preferred route but I wrote to them and told them of my history and it granted me funding.
