Keep on eating slider food.

Morning everyone
I have a band with 8mls. I'm trying to give up wine and get my life sorted. I seem to eat slider foods most of the time. Bovril about 10ish and then soup for lunch and dinner. If I've had wine I might have a Chinese or a ready made chicken lasagne. I also love stilton and it has come my must have since Christmas. As you can see I have a salty tooth and not that bothered about sweet things. If anyone has some food ideas about what I can eat to get back on track I would be so grateful. Many thanks. Xx
 
If you stop the wine you will reduce calories significantly and reduce carb craving, the foods you describe above are also high fat. Easy first step, cut out the wine and you will find it easier to make good food choices
 
I got your pm Hun and will reply when I've got a sec later but just wanted to say I know it's not the easy bit. Stopping the wine. If you can manage to cut it down to every other night to start with it would be helpful but for me it was all or nothing. Once I'd had one, I always wanted more.

The Stilton is really fatty but I know what you mean about salty cravings. I absolutely love nothing more and although I do like sweet things I would always pick salty over them. When they started doing salty sweet stuff I couldn't believe how unlucky I was lol. Just a quick suggestion is feta cheese or halloumi? Do you like them? Ryvita crackers are quite filling and you can get low fat versions of those cheeses and they are very salty, and I love them. All supermarkets do the low fat versions, for the feta it is sometimes called salad cheese but once you adjust, I like it just as much and it actually has a saltier flavour than the full fat stuff. Just an idea for now. Will add more later :)
 
I have a bit of a wine habit!

Not had any for two days and trying to limit myself to a Saturday night - been trying to achieve this for months I have to say :-(

You are lucky not to have a sweet tooth. I am more savoury too. This helps with low carbing. If you research a low carb diet you could easily incorporate cheese, yea even the Stilton into your diet. And a glass of red wine has 5 carbs

When I low carb my treats are cheese wine and a handful of peanuts.....but. While low carbing and if you want to have these it's absolutely no bread potatoes pasta rice starchy veg or fruit other tha some berries

I personally like the new Atkins plan. It's mostly protein and leafy veg. If I stick to this my cravings are very controlled as my blood sugar stays stable

I would love to cut out the wine completely. But will start be seriously trying to stick to a Saturday night and a very low carb diet on that day xx

Hey all,

I also like savoury food so above suggestions are very useful. Peanuts... I like the Atkins diet idea Kurstywursty... I love nuts. I also seem to loose weight better with low carb diets. I will definitely try it once on proper foods.

As well as low fat feta, you can also look out for laughing cow blue cheese. I am not into "fake" food that much but now and then, this one will fill the gap.

I have just had three laughing cow light blue cheese triangles warped in slices of cold ham yum yum not quite Stilton but a good alternative

I also crumble feta over a baby leaf salad with red onions and a bit of advacado and a slice of crispy bacon crumbled again all low carb
