I still feel obsessed with food - i'm always eating so i think!

I don't think you're eating too much Julie, in fact I think I'm probably eating slightly more than you and my weight is coming off at an average 3lb a week which I'm more than happy with. e.g today I've had 3tbsp porridge, 3 rashers bacon & 1 egg, a babybel light & slice of melon, 1tbsp...

    MRI Scans ?

I've just had a quick look online and it seems there are machines of various sizes around the country but none as of 2008 that could take more than 25 stone. As Jacqui mentions, it also depends on shoulder width and waist circumference too. I don't know how much you weigh but I'd give them a...

    MRI Scans ?

I would give them a call asap and let them know about your rings. They could interfere with the imaging and therefore the results, as you'll be entering an extremely strong magnetic field. You might have to arrange to have them removed. I assume there will be a maximum weight/size for the...

After eight and half months I have eaten...

Although I'd never touch white bread again, I've been eating toast for a couple of weeks now. Started on the WW Malted Bread as the slices are really small so one is perfect, but last few days having the Burgen's Soya & Linseed. I can only managed half a slice toasted though. I've also been...

    haitus hernia

I have a large hiatus hernia but didn't have it fixed when I had my bypass as the surgeon said there was no point making things more complicated. If it becomes a problem later on then he will do it. I have to say though since my bypass I've not had any problems with reflux or pain whatsoever :)

    another question!

I used Chicken Bovril (in a jar) tastes far better than stock cubes, more like a clear chicken soup :)

OMG! OMG! The best phone call ever!!

I don't have young children to cope with but found I could manage doing light things (just no lifting anything heavy or bending over too much) a few days post-op so it could be possible for you to manage as long as you get plenty of rest between. As far as cooking dinner for the kids goes, how...

Weight-loss schemes help patients 'more than the NHS'

Just read that myself and was coming here to post it but you beat me to it :D Also, not sure whether it's been mentioned elsewhere yet but NHS funding is being handed back to GPs so PCTs will no longer exist. Whether that's a good or bad thing I guess will depend on individual GP's attitudes to...

Probably been asked a million times but....

I suppose it all depends on which one you take. I've only looked at my own, which is one I've taken for several years and is also recommended by my bariatric team. When I compared it with Centrum it actually had a better vitamin profile. It's like everything else to do with WLS, each team has...

    Just wondering

I don't count calories but like Rose I stick to maximum 5% sat fat/sugar. I eat healthily and keep carbs to a minimum. Example daily menu: Early morning: Actimel/Vitality yoghurt drink (with meds) Breakfast: black coffee & slice toast (with scraping of low sugar marmalade) Mid morning...

    Easy Curry 1

Hehe Paul, I know exactly how you feel. It's been a welcome challenge though creating new low-fat/sugar dishes. So far I've been fine with spices... curry, tagine, chilli, spicy seasonings etc... so fingers crossed you will be too. I made an interesting dish last night using aubergine...

    Easy Curry 1

I must have somehow missed this reply, sorry Stella, and yes, that is one of the reasons I avoid high fat. The odd occasion I've eaten something unknowingly higher in fat it's caused cramps & diarrhoea.

    Easy Curry 1

Yup, I still use it the majority of the time but use groundnut or rapeseed oil for Chinese dishes.... and curries lol ;)

    Easy Curry 1

I used to use it in absolutely everything, but got told off by a cheffy friend who said olive oil is for Italian food and never to be used in curry, so it kinda stuck ever since. I wasn't sure about the coconut as I rarely use it, and yes, you're probably right about me getting far too hung up...
