Did you go private? If so does your GP do your bloods and vits?

After paying for my own op, my GP has prescribed Lanzoprazol, Forceval and Calcichew with no problems, I've stopped the iron tablets as I didn't need them (there is some iron in Forceval anyway). I get B12 every 3 months and bloods every 6, although they will do them more regularly if required...

I'm sure Naomi said that the skin they removed from her weighed 5lbs. Would love to know the name of the surgeon - he did such a great job.

The six year old and her mum were given advice and a diet and exercise plan. The 16 year old and her mum were getting BP surgery in Belgium.

    Supersize Kids: Under the knife

Did anyone catch the name of the surgeon or the hospital who did the 'body-lift' on this programme? Am watching it again on +1 but not sure it actually gave his name or what hospital it was.

    Sick pay

You don't have to tell your work exactly what your operation is for. If your GP is understanding they can provide you with a 'sick line' saying something like "recovery after abdominal surgery". Mine did, no problem and my work did not question it. Best of luck with your op.

    Private surgery

I did a lot of research on the internet about what to expect after surgery and through recommendations, mostly on this forum and a personal meet-up with a really successful bypasser, Gaelic Girl, I opted for Mr Ammori at the Spire in Manchester. It was worth every penny but I did find their...

    Skin removal surgeon recommendation please.

Hi all, hope you are all well. I've been thinking about skin removal for a while now and am looking for any recommendations for a surgeon. Before the bypass I did a lot of research and relied a lot on advice from this forum so I am hoping you can come up trumps again! I've tightened up what...

Sublingual B12 drops are available at Puritan's Pride: ENER-B® SHOT B-12 Puritan United Kingdom I've been taking these now and again in between my injections and just got the results of last weeks blood tests which show my B12 levels are now too high. I'm not saying the drops could be used as a...

    scottish health care trust

Hi, just seen your post. I'm from Glasgow and was refused point blank for any funding for surgery or follow-up plastics. Sorry if that is bad news and maybe if your friend has any health issues, she may get a different decision than I did but my GP says that WLS is just not being funded in our...

Hi, just got the bog standard rejection letter. I'm due in for my B12 in a few weeks so will try get the GP to find exactly what the criteria is. Good luck everyone.

    re-canalisation

Sorry to hear about this. A traditional RNY bypass is done by using an automatic stapler/cutter which inserts 6 rows of staples and cuts between row 3 and 4. I've never heard of the stomach line being left uncut, but it used to be fairly common that the bowel lines were uncut and simply...

    Any Scots needing an abdominoplasty?

Hi, I'm from Glasgow and had word back yesterday from the plastics team that I do not fit their criteria. My GP told me to expect this. In his words "unfortunately this area of Glasgow is seen as affluent and funding priority is given to other areas where people who don't work and asylum...

What did you do with your clothes??

I altered some of my clothes - jeans and trousers can be easily reduced by 2 - 3 sizes, tops by a size or 2. Jackets, sweaters etc were all given to charity. I bought a lot of stuff from Ebay as I was losing and altered that as well! Am buying new stuff at last.

    Any Vegetarians out there?

Hi Dinda, I've been a veggie and a vegan in the past but now eat a little fish now and again so just identify as a non-meat eater now (have not ate meat for 25 years). I've not had any problems post-op and prepare a lot of my food in bulk and freeze....saves me reaching for non-nutritious food...

    hair loss

Hi, hair needs protein so that is THE most important thing to keep up before and after your op. No matter what else you do - keep up your protein intake! Protein shakes are a good option when you don't or can't eat. Try Myprotein who do sample satchets of their Impact Whey Protein before you...

Is my weight loss too fast?

Well done on your great loss! I lost about a stone a month for the first 6 months or so then gradually this slowed down to a pound or 2 a week although there was weeks it was more and weeks there was no loss at all! You'll find your weight loss will begin to even out and there may even be...
