The other thing is that according to my original NHS hospital I am a clinical success -- having lost more than 50% of my excess weight.
I think when I reached 15.0 i had achieved 70% EWL .....but since my small regain its now about 65%.
However the hospital views anyone who achieves *more*...
Hi Chrisa
I know what you mean -- this *might* be my body's natural set weight. My bariatric dietician did also suggest this to me and warned me that weight loss after a 2nd weight loss surgery is not guaranteed.
If I was perfectly healthy at my current weight I wd not bother with 2nd op...
I spent 18 months waiting for my ffirst op on the NHS -- I don't want to spend another 18 months.
I have registered my dissatisfaction with my sleeve but that hospital has not offered to do anything.
I have actually lost faith slightly in my original provider and my current personal choice is...
Thanks both Twinkle and Flutterby.
Yes at least I am 8 stone lighter than I was .....and also having been thru WLS once I am determined to make the best of my second chance.
A lot of non WLS friends might question whether it is really necessary for me to go thru a 2nd procedure -- they are...
Good luck Roccosmummy !!
I came across your thread a few days ago and book-marked it as I am getting my sleeve converTed to a bypass in a few months.
My sympathies are very much with people going thru revision / 2nd surgeries at the moment.
Look forward to reading your updates.
I think there is very little point. The NHS now has a policy of one WLS per lifetime and no revision unless there are major problems (like hernia or bowel obstruction).
I did wonder at 6 weeks post op when I saw my barium X-ray swallow whether I should question its size but what wd they have...
I know lots of people love their sleeves ....I see it so often online in various groups I take part in ...."I love me sleeve" they jump up and down announcing.
Unfortunately quite early on I knew I was never going to be saying "I love my sleeve" .... I just about tolerate it / try to accept it...
Some will remember me from 2011 and 2012 and some newer members won't so brief recap:
1. I was sleeved April 2012 under the NHS at a hospital in London.
2. My highest ever weight was 23 st 8 lbs (330 lbs) although by my op I had lost 3 stone and got myself down to 20 st 7 lbs.
3. I was a...
Oooh .... i just worked out how to do a direct reply ..... now off to see if I can start a thread.
Bear with me + apols for interrupting Yve's thread ....my laptop blew up a while back + I am v v new to the smart phone + doing everything by phone !!
Contracts !!
Now i have worked out how to reply to a thread by using "Actions" and then "Quote" .....but have not yet worked out how to add a comment directly on the bottom of a thread (from the Android App) .....anyone help me with Android tech knowledge i wd be grateful ?
Hi Brian,
Just to let you know Caren is a super skinny sleever who made it to goal some time ago. I see her occasionally in some of the "other" sleever groups on other places online (not here) with her incredibly slim new profile photo !!
I think she's too busy off out enjoying her slender...
Yes, yes, yes .... I also say yes it will be worth it ClaireMarie.
1. You will get the extra 2 stone off (and prob slightly more).
2. You will have a lifelong tool to enable you to keep a healthy weight without ever being able to overeat huge portions again.
For me the lowest weight I...
Hi Chrisa,
I'm in the same boat as you. Although I have now removed my stats from the left hand side I went into surgery with a BMI of (nearly) 53 and have lost 120 lbs with my sleeve but am left in the 15 stone range size 18 (I am 5'7" tall).
Unfortunately when it came to time to sit...
Hi Brian,
Nice to see an update from you again. Sorry to hear you have had these life difficulties upset your journey. I know the feeling. 2 weeks after my sleeve I was made redundant (or took voluntary redundancy) and since then I have moved 5 times and changed jobs several times in my...
This is the best quote I have seen in ages, and I am posting a comment onto this thread so that I am subscribed. Want to add that:
** Bariatric surgery gives us the option to re-set the controls of our hunger again (the other) way .......which actually makes weight loss possible.
In fact...
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Kimboski. :)
I did think of you yesterday as I was at the Whittington (my bariatric surgery provider) having a review ..... meant to log on to wish you good luck but ended up losing track of time and not logging onto WLS.
