I figured it out in the end. The key was to make the fruit separate with a bit of milk, and then put the powder with a bit of milk in the shaker and do them both apart. Then mix them together when in the glass. Putting the whey protein anywhere near the blender was what was causing the foam.
Hey all :) It's been three weeks now since my RNY and things are going great! I finally got around to sitting down and writing out my experience with the surgery (in Brugge, Belgium with Dr. Dillemans) and I thought I'd share it for those who are interested. I know before my surgery I was...
So it's normal in the weeks after surgery while on Puree to get those "oh no the sh*ts are coming!" gurgles through the whole day, even if they don't end up coming? hehe
Hey all! Almost two weeks now since the surgery and things are going well! I saw my doctor yesterday and my wounds are all healing well and she was really pleased with my progress. There was a nerve damaged in my stomach which has made it completely numb in one area and hyper sensitive in...
Hey all :) I am on the puree stage and I'm REALLY frustrated. I've been trying to make fruit smoothies with protein powder as something nice and different but every time I try it just ends up being totally foamy. I've tried not adding the powder until the end and it makes no difference, even...
What do you mean by wind? I often hear people saying that but do you mean like trapped air in your stomach? The gas coming through your shoulders or gas farty pain? hehe
Wow you had your surgery yesterday! How are you feeling?!! I think a part of the nerves is that I have so much riding on making this surgery a success... combined with just never thinking I'd ever be at this place in my life, ya know? Oh, and of course absolute FEAR of the pain when I first...
Well, the time has gone by super quickly! My surgery is tomorrow and the nerves have really started to set in today!
I'm trying to stay positive and be calm but my stomach is in knots. I'm so nervous about the pain from the surgery, what the hospital stay will be like, all the upcoming...
I also went back and forth for a long time between the sleeve and the bypass, I believe there is even a thread or two here where I asked the same sort of question. Unfortunately people can answer with their opinions all day, but I learned that I had to sit down and figure out what was best for...
A friend was just telling me that they were sick with a cold, and I got to thinking, what happens after I have my bypass? I assume I can't use throat lozenges because of the sugar, same with cough medicine or things like the hot lemon drink. Would cold meds even work in pill form?
All these...
I am a Canadian in the Netherlands and the whole process has been ok for me but I am only part way through. I need to lose weight to have IVF (I've already done IUI treatments but they didn't work, and time is running out as they won't do IVF here if you have a BMI above 35 or are over 40 years...
Oh god ok that makes more sense... I'm Canadian and when I think of gravy all I see is fat mixed with flour! I was like, how in the heck are these people eating that and not rolling on the floor in pain (or legging it for the potty!) Makes more sense now!
I think we'll definitely have to agree to disagree on this one. Given the small amount of food you can eat after surgery, I'd want to make sure it was as packed with nutrients as possible. Potato doesn't give you a heck of a lot in that regard.
Also, what works for some may not work for...
I'm surprised that nobody has replied about what it is you are eating. Perhaps that is part of the problem? I am pre-op but I am currently doing a ton of research in regards to what I should be eating after the operation... and nowhere in anything I've read did anyone ever mention potatoes OR...
When I asked my dietitian about it that's what she said. That the protein was important to aid in healing and most importantly to stop you from losing muscle mass when you are taking in so few calories.
I think I will find a happy medium, mostly try to just eat a healthy meal and throw a few...
