    24 hours!!

Good luck zooboo! I can only advise what's said many times here on the site. Sip, sip, sip water and juices, milk and stock cube drinks. Walk about as soon as you can and at least once a day every day. This eases trapped wind, which can manifest as pain in the left shoulder. Follow the...

    Not eating enough!!!

If you need to keep a record of your intake in terms of calories, protein, carbs, vitamins and such, I found MyFitnessPal really useful. Of course other food diary sites are available but I like that one :) I can see at a glance which food is providing what kind of nutrition and the discipline...

    Fear of failure

I had a bit of a stall the last 2 weeks, weight blipping up and then down again, mostly staying the same but I started swimming last week, making sure I drink all my water each day and eating purée food which has nudged my intake up between 1000 and 1200 kcal per day. I also walk at a good old...

Can some one explain band sizes?

I have a large band and a jolly little card with an x-ray of it inside me, with what looks like barium passing through it. Must have been taken while I was out cold. It has the serial number, op date, etc on it. Most useful but I didn't know it was 14ml. Not had a fill yet, still feels quite...

    post op band help please

Wow you guys are on normal food after just 2-3 weeks? I was supposed to do 4 weeks liquids and could only manage 3 weeks. So now I'm on 2 weeks of puree food, to be followed by 2 weeks of mashable food. That's before I can even look at a cracker or a proper piece of meat. Why are things so...

    Psychic Sally Morgan

Well hurray for people making the procedure well-known in the media. I'd rather not have Sally morgan as an advocate though. I don't know what you guys think of this woman as a psychic but I have plenty of evidence from investigators that she's a complete fraud.

    NEW FOOD DISCOVERY

What a great idea! I'm still in the mush stages post band so I'm going to grab a few of these for lunch at work. Brilliant!

    WOOP WOOP

*hugs* I totally understand how emotional this journey can be, even as early as getting funding. Congrats and we'll see you on the losers bench really soon! I chose the band because I don't need to lose weight fast (no diabetes, heart problems, weak joints, etc) I just need to reduce my intake...

    tablets

I got one of my meds changed to liquid (Atenolol), and my GP says the bendroflumethiazide is water soluble (it's not so I crush it) and I crack open the Ramipril capsules. I mix it all up in apple juice which covers the nasty taste.

    New to this people

Hi Deb, welcome to the forum. I'm 3 and a half weeks post band and just started purée food after 3 weeks on liquid diet. You will find that you simply cannot eat normal portions and you should quickly get used to the full feeling coming on quickly. Don't be tempted to take just one more bite...

    Post op pain

The pain in my shoulder was excruciating for about a week but now it's completely gone. Keep walking and mobile and swing your arms about (sounds silly but it worked for me). Good luck!

    Liquid diet

I called Heartlands and they prefer me to make 4 weeks if I can, since there are a few stitches holding my band in place and they don't want me to stretch those with sloppies. However, they gave me some good advice about when to eat more proteins and said I can have more Measure Up/Slim-Fast in...

    Liquid diet

I'm glad someone started this thread because I'm on day 12 post-op and the liquid diet is starting to get me down. I'm having meal replacement shakes (Asda Measure Up) done quite thin, soya yogurts, lots of tea, coffee, milk, water, stock cubes, Bovril, thin soups and NAS squash. Having...

    How do I tell people?

I am always saddened by people who turn their backs on friends and colleagues just because they've decided to do something drastic about their health. Yes it's a big cost to the NHS but it massively outweighs the future cost of healthcare for the very overweight. Yes you could diet and...

    October bandsters

Hi all. My band op went very well and all is healing nicely. I have the usual trapped wind but plumbing is all in order and I have managed No2 after 3 days of liquid diet. Today is day 5 post-op and my abdomen is quite sore, feels like it's pulling, like I've done too many sit-ups. My main...

    October bandsters

Don't know if I mentioned this, can't be bothered to go over 11 pages of posts (!) so I'll just say my op is tomorrow, at Heartlands. I'm having a band with Mr Super. Here's hoping it's trouble free.

    Feeling Nervous!

My date is this Friday, 26th at Heartlands and I'm as calm as a Hindu cow, as the saying goes. Thought I'd be a bag of nerves but the days are really dragging and so I'm finding it hard to get excited.
