    Sleeve Diet

It reduces the amount of ghrelin in the stomach for a while, which in turn reduces appetite, it does not stop it altogether and levels raise again. Also each provider has their own post-op diet recommendations for how long they suggest you stay on each stage.

    Reality check time

Yup at age 25 my BMI was 35. I spent a long time trying and failing at diets. I had some therapy leading up to WLS (not for that but another issue where eating was a side effect) and also have the overcoming weigh problems. The other book that was great for me was The Beck Diet Solution which...

    Reality check time

You know what Venture, your post mirrors a similar situation to what I was in and why I chose the sleeve. I was able to lose weight, but then I'd lose momentum and gain back more than I'd lost. Because I was another 11yrs older than you when I had mine I'd hit a BMI of 50. I have always had the...

    Celebrating getting there

It takes time to adjust to a new way of eating and I had the sads several times along the way. I was folate deficient at one point but now all bloods are normal. I get reflux, but then I've always had reflux so nothing really different. So a very uncomplicated journey. Absolutely no regrets.

    Calling all experienced Sleevers

There's no rush in stages. You don't have to be on normal food next week, nothing wrong with slowing down to what your body is telling you. It is often trial and error at this stage. Beef has never posed me a problem but it took me ages to be able to do fish and eggs. It can feel a pretty...

Help needed fir portion sizes for pureed

A tablespoon is 15g or about 1/2oz, to get 250-300g from 5 tablespoons the measuring is way out. What spoon are you using? Would it help to buy some proper measuring spoons for guidance and that it's a level spoon not a heaped one? Again this will sort itself out when it's food you chew as you...

    Nervous

I'm determined to do this and enjoy it. 6mths before my surgery my dh bought one for my birthday and I got myself so upset and worked up that I got him to cancel it. You will look really normal, go for it <3

    Shopping...

Do you have a Bravissimo near you? Mine have been so good on the way down. Before I'd outgrown them as they don't do bigger back sizes but once I got into 36/38 the assistant was amazing. I'm now a 32J from a 46KK. Need to go bra shopping soon.

Help required with drinking & eating rule

I still find the differences in providers diet info shocking. I'm someone who likes to know why (yes I was that annoying child ;) ) so to not have evidenced based information drives me mad. It would be great if someone put together a cohort study of this. Looked at if there was any difference...

Help required with drinking & eating rule

What did your own team say? Mine was leave it at least an hour afterwards and still I pretty much stick to this 17mths after surgery, usually longer. I get hungry soon after I drink so I find it helpful to not drink too soon after a meal. Before hand I tend to leave it 15-30mins, it's enough...

    Post Gastric Sleeve Food Question!

They are both foods that typically stick so you may really, really struggle with them and find yourself feeling quite ill. Focus on protein rather than empty carbs. Bread I'm ok with now but I'm 16mths out and only recently started eating it again without the need to toast it.

Results of the sleeve, reality and hopes.

Have you looked at the stats for weight loss after a sleeve? It's generally between about 50-70% of EWL post sleeve. My surgeon did say to me I'm unlikely to get to a normal BMI category because of that. As it happens I think he's right but I'm not complaining at a BMI of 26 and ELW of 93%. I...

    My Ramblings...

Anorexia is a disorder and to use it as a name to call someone is a hurtful way to do it. People should always come before labels. It sounds like people may think this is a possibility that you're facing. Perhaps not just from appearance/weight but via the increased level of control over food...
