I make sure I have my 60grams of protein, eat my veg then the carbs. I have trouble with some carbs. getting stuck, particularly rice. Lentils and beans are a favourite of mine as they have a good protein content. I also have an iron tablet, calcium tablet twice a day and a multivitamin with...

    Hair loss

Mine fell out three or four months after bypass, it's lack of protein so I was told. I am now 2 1/2 years out and no problems, my hair grew back and thicker than before. Just keep an eye on the amount of protein you are getting per day. I have the recommended 60 grams.

    A very shy hi

Hi Ali, I did my tier 3 with Addenbrookes. One of the biggest highlights of my journey from start to finish was all the team treated me with sympathy and respect and understood where I was coming from. I am sure that so many of you have in the past been treated the same by any doctor when...

BMI 62, can I not get gastric bypass in uk!!

My BMI was 63. Had my surgery on NHS, but had to follow 6 month programme. Had to go on milk diet for 8 weeks, then milk and food 8 weeks and then food for the last 8 weeks. I lost 4.5 stones over this period and had lost a total of 6 stone before I had my op. Which of course brought my BMI...

    Just been referred

Try making sugar free jelly with some of your milk, melt the crystals first with a little hot water, then cool before adding the right quantity of milk otherwise it will curdle. It's gives you something to eat rather than drinking all the time, I used 1/2 OXO cube in a cup of hot water for my...

    Oldie but Newbie

When my doctor suggested WLS he referred me to Live Well Suffolk, this is known as Tier 2, it's free and run by the council. This programme is to see if you are able to lose weight by sticking to the regime they suggest. I did this, lost 1.5 stones, I was then referred for funding to start the...

    any advice for milk diet

Try making a jelly with the milk. Make the sugar free jelly crystals with a little boiling water, then cool (it is important to do this otherwise it will curdle), then add milk up to required quantity. Eating this gives you some relief from all the liquid. I was on this milk diet for 8 weeks...

    Onwards and upwards

I had a bypass April 2015, I have lost 11.5 stone from the time I started my journey in July 2012, that's when I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have been tested and my chart showed a significant drop from when I first started. This November I am being tested to see if I need the machine...

Anyone under Luton & Dunstable hopsital

Good luck Bedford2015, hope they find what the problem is. Mr. Barecca was very happy with my progress, so both him and the dietician have allowed me 3 months to go on our much longed for trip to Sweden in our Motorhome, so we are off on the 18th June or thereabouts. Yippee

Am doing well, have my 6 week check up on Monday. Want the surgeon to say I am OK to go off to Sweden, if he does will be booking the ferry straight away. I am experimenting with different foods, not all low calorie, that will come later. Had a lovely cheese and potato pie tonight, I mashed them...

Anyone under Luton & Dunstable hopsital

Great news to hear you are home but sad to hear that your treatment you got was shoddy. Hope that you can now move on and improve. Take things easy. I have had a few episodes all because I haven't learned to eat properly yet. No doubt that will come with time. Big hugs.

    Band complications/bypass - white flem

Hi Bedford, have had the same happen on two occasions, once eating scrambled egg and the other with flaked smoked cod and mashed potatoes. Not painful, like being sick, it took about an hour to clear with the egg, brought most of it back up. I think it is known as reflux. I am being a lot more...

So glad that your haematoma has gone. Great weight loss. I have lost 11kgs so far. I do feel restriction, but can eat more than I thought I would especially as the pouch is only supposed to be 30ml., but it is a lot lot less than I ate before. I have experienced reflux a couple of times and...

    April 2015 Surgeries

Well done. One tip I can give is to concentrate when you are drinking, it's so easy to take in more than you should. Your stomach will soon tell you.
