So lovely to hear from you Kirsty and realise life is overall, very good. You've had an incredible year! We both celebrate Walsall Manor ops on June 8th albeit my results are more modest. So pleased your health checks have caught and resolved your vitamin deficiencies. Hope that's sorted now...
Just a quick pop by.
I am 4 weeks from being 2 years post surgery.
I've had a difficult couple of months food wise. My restriction is still there - large meals still defeat me. Still cannot drink fizzy and if I drink to quickly after food I am certainly acutely aware! So that's all good I...
No change on cholesterol despite a change in diet. Not on statins as yet!
I have gained 3-4 pounds and this is driving me mad currently as I cannot shift those either
Have secured more psychological support and seeing if that's what I need to do - compliment the fixed tummy with a fixed...
I am sure you will manage this. It's amazing what we can achieve when we can see a lifeline - they are super busy at Walsall but I have found them to be supportive and helpful. Try not to worry to much about it all as I always found the more I got stressed the more I craved and needed bad food...
They were quite strict with me to have lost that 10% but that was achieved in tier 3. I live in Bham so was referred to Healthy weight which was a specialist tier 3 weight loss team. They kept me on their books for over 2 years until I had lost the 10% and maintained it for 6 months. It was a...
I had my surgery there in June 2015. Dr Hartland runs the pre and post op clinics. I had done a 2 year tier 3 program before being referred to tier 4 at Walsall. I was referred in Summer of 2014. First visit to hospital was January 2015. I had already lost and maintained the 10% weight loss on...
Happy New Year I guess. A little late I know!
My GP ran some blood tests to see if anything was lacking to explain my endless tiredness. No revelations. Everything is dropping - but all still in tolerance so they are not adding anything just yet.
HOWEVER what has been a shock revelation is my...
Hi there Kirsty.
Hope you had a magical Christmas and are looking forward to the new year. How did your blood work go? Hope you're feeling s bit better now x
Well it's Boxing Day. With some joy and relief I am pleased to record that 18 months post surgery I was able to eat without being sick on Christmas Day!
Breakfast was a warburton thin with a slice of grilled bacon and grilled tomatoes. Lunch was a side plate with a slice of turkey, two sprouts...
Well I am rapidly approaching my second sleeved Christmas. Seems daft even writing that having been so anxious for so long on my journey to surgery spanning 4-5 years.
I wasn't that cheerful for Xmas 2015. Yes I was 13.5 stone and feeling so much healthier. But Christmas Day was a slog of...
No change weight wise.
Bit worried about my snacking. Sigh!
Generally I am a size 14
My restriction is still there if I eat a proper meal - but high calorie daft snacks slip down a treat! Sadly!
Weight is no change at around 12 stones 7 or so.
Bad week last week with my first real bout of...
You have had such a lot to deal with. We had our ops at the same time of year, in the same hospital, but I was a year before you as you know. I was about a stone heavier when I had my surgery. You've already passed my weight loss by a huge margin as I am still just over 12 stone! Eek!
Whilst...
I've asked only last month. My team at Walsall are clearly slammed with work and I was actually discharged in September some 15 months only after my sleeve. My GP, like the whole NHS, has to be budget conscious. He is lovely. Blood tests show my levels are well in range so he gently made the...
I was a sleeve patient at Walsall Manor and they and I asked about B12 from the start. They refused as did my GP. Said they would consider if I was bypass due to malabsorbtion but not for a sleeve. My levels have been tested every three months and are still 'in range' so sadly I've got nowhere...
Well climbed Snowdon. Elated. Two days later cut finger with kitchen knife preparing cucumber!!!! Severed tendons. Admitted to hospital. Surgery. Cast. Now in a cast for 8 weeks. Can't drive. Unbelievable!!! Sigh! Such a daft and random thing to do!
No more weight loss. It's been months. No...
Hi. I was referred to the Manor from a Bham based tier 3 program. I was referred in August 2014. First appointment was January 2015. Surgery (gastric sleeve) was June 2015. I kept a diary on here of the whole event lol. I found it fair and ok.
Good luck with your journey x
Follow up at the hospital today. I was very surprised to be discharged into GP care. No more team monitor job and follow ups. I didn't expect that. I assumed it would be 2 years of follow ups.
They said sleeves don't malabsorb. So I should get all the vitamins I need from my diet and my GP can...
Don't want to be a downer but wls is amazing and I totally credit it with my success. That said, I am 15 months out and can now eat almost normally. I cannot eat single huge portions in one sitting. But I could eat little and often end that could be a calorific snack. Do that every 90 mins or so...
