I think some of it was just portion size, my stomach obviously didn't tell my brain it was full up in time. It was such a small amount though, truly surprising compared to what I used to eat. I suppose it's a learning process that will take time.
Some chicken, it didn't agree with me, I ended up hugging a toilet for half an hour. I'm not going to try that again for a while that's for sure. Feel better now though.
Went to my GP today, so have a blood test to do when I can get down to the hospital next, and he said we will look at my b12 levels and some other ones. Prescribed me a higher dosage of the PPI to start with, with the view to drop to 15mg then hopefully to nothing.
Going to try some big soup...
Is everyone finding coffee ok to drink? I've been avoiding it and sticking to cold drinks, mostly water and juice.
I tried some scrambled egg yesterday and that was ok, was nice to have something with a texture and it turns to mush after a couple of chews. It was one medium egg, and I found it...
First day back to work today, and I think I did ok. It was a little tiring, and I managed 7902 steps, which is not too bad. I'm usually around 6.5k nowadays, this time last year I was hitting 18k as a minimum.
Really hoping I can make it onto solids for Christmas, so I can have a tiny Christmas...
I can manage cream of tomato soup ok, about half a can. Chicken soup had the same effect on me as it did @maggy
I also had covent garden tomato and vegetable soup, blended smooth. I'm going to try a banana later to see how that goes. I have started protein shakes too, to up my protein intake...
Is anyone else easily out of breath post op? Taking a shower leaves me breathing quite hard with my heart thumping. Seems I've lost what little fitness I had. Hopefully that will change as I get more active.
I had 5 and a drain. Non dis-solvable stitches. I did ask why, and was told it was so that you go back to the doctor or hospital to get it looked at.
I thought I only had 5 incisions in total, but there was one in the belly button too.
If it helps, I think it's good that you decided to fund privately. It's saving the nhs money in the short and long term by you addressing a major health concern. The NHS would be the preferable way for most people I would imagine, but sometimes that's not an option for various reasons. The goal...
Your toilet habits will change anyway due to the extreme diet, and you're putting a lot less in, so less will also come out. The big drop in carbs is where most of that comes from.
That said, keeping things moving is good, I find milk of magnesia easy, and it also has the added effect of...
So you're getting about the same as me then, I think I'm around 400, but not feeling hungry or anything. I will start working on increasing that amount over the next few days before I return to work. I'm going to take bananas and stuff with me when I go back, in case of any low sugar issues...
I've weaned myself off it, and will probably transition to coffee instead, especially with the cooler weather about now.
So how many calories are people managing post op?
@MrsN It definitely will be for me, although luckily I don't need to worry about getting enough fluids as I can easily drink enough now. I think you'll find a lot of people who struggle with their weight also drink while eating. You can probably eat more that way, and also stretch your stomach...
