2+ years since surgery - still losing weight?

I'm wondering how folks are going who had their bypass done at least 2 years ago? Are you still losing weight? Has it slowed down? I had mine done in October 08, and i've lost over 12 stone now, but i'm still losing weight quite rapidly and wondered if anyone else is too. I also...

    Trumps

Mixxy you're a crack up lol. Thanks ladies. I don't drink milk anymore really, only in coffee and i have one a day. I used to drink 3 pints per day until a few months ago, and never had this problem. Unfortunately, i'm in Australia now and the GP's don't really know anything about gastric...

    Trumps

A bit embarrassing, but does anyone else have troubles with wind? flatulence, farting, trumping.....?? Every evening i get wind, but it's not like any normal wind, it's the most vulgar and horrific smelling wind you've ever smelt. I thought it was if i ate too much fat, got the wind...

    My before and after pics

I'm overwhelmed. I certainly didn't expect to get so many positive messages. Thank you all so much, you've lifted my spirits. It's all happened so fast, it seems that in the blink of an eye, i've literally halved in size. There has been so much else happening in my life that i really haven't...

    Help in Leeds

I was in LS 6 when i was referred. My GP first referred me to the wrong people and was soon told that she needed to refer me to the weight management service. Not all GP's are up to date with what to do in regards to this. Personally, i would ask your GP to refer you straight to Mr Pollard or...

    Pain after drinking ??

Hey Vicky, I had the same thing early on, and the magic trick that helped me with drinking, to avoid gulping, use a straw. I drink EVERYTHING, even now, through a straw...well, except coffee and tea, and wine ;) But using a straw avoids swallowing pockets of air, you also feel fuller...

yet another POOH question. Sorry anybody with a sensative nature please do not read.

I used to get very similar things happen. I would have horrendous bowel cramps, followed by what i called emergency poo's which were very loose and smelly. I realised it was my body's way of dumping. Take note of what you're eating lately, and check the fat content. Now, at 10 months post op...

    Pregnancy and WLS

Hi lady in london, I had my surgery done in Leeds on the NHS. I have moved back to Australia. At 6 weeks post op i saw the surgeons lackey who was less than helpful. My 6 month anniversary came around, no appointment. Sent the surgeon an email, and called several times leaving messages...

    Pregnancy and WLS

I am no longer in the same country as my surgeon and unfortunately GP's here don't seem to know much about Bypass surgery. Are there any things in particular you need to be careful of during pregnancy after a bypass? Are there any added risks? Anything to take into consideration...

    Pouch Test

Thank you ladies. I think it would be a good idea to do the test, i'm still losing weight, but very slowly now and i have realised i've gone back to some old habits. Thanks again, i really appreciate it. Alia, good luck and i hope it goes well.

    Pouch Test

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, if it has, please could someone point me in the right direction. But i'm wondering, for those that have done the 5 day pouch test, would it be too much trouble to please post a day by day run down of the things you drank/ate? I've been reading the 5...

    Bypassers, Staple Stitch or both?

Mr Pollard told me that no one stitches the pouch. It is ALWAYS stapled, and when they say they use stitches instead of staples, apparently they're referring to the new connection of the bypassed bit of intestine that is joined up to the pouch. Just repeating what i was told by my surgeon.

    Question for all Post Oppers

Funny how different surgeons tell you different things. I'm worried now that i should be taking the medication as i've not taken it since shortly after the op. My sister has been back to the doctor a few times now who tells her it's to be expected. She has to sleep on the sofa sitting mostly...

    Ok someone slap me ...

Congratulations. I bet you can't wait. However, i know how hard it is for people like Vicky who have been waiting a year for surgery in Leeds with Pollard now, and has had surgery put off a couple of times already now. I hope the same doesn't happen to you too, and hope all goes well.

    Question for all Post Oppers

Thank you so much guys, i remember now it was Lansoprazole. Might have been Losec. My memory sucks. Is it something that should be taken continously or just for a short time?

Leeds nuffield have cancelled my surgery

I had Mr Pollard at Jimmy's in October last year. He is very good i must say. He does prefer open surgery and the only complaint I have about him and Jimmy's, is that i never received a 6 month checkup, not even when i contact them to let them know i was moving abroad and would like to make sure...
