Morning all,

I live in Essex and am booked for gastric bypass for the 11th. I'm 37, 5'8", 20st with a BMI of 41.

Okay, my concern is this...

...Based on the restrictive stomach size, will the procedure "change my life"... Now, what I mean by that is "will the procedure focus my entire life around food"... A strange question perhaps, but whilst my current choices are poor, food isn't on my mind 24 hrs a day.

Secondly, does it ruin your social life... The inability to socialise frightens the hell out of me!

And lastly, despite my rotund size, I did lose the weight in 2010 and climbed Mount Everest- something I want to do again. On the mountain you need to eat for energy... Will this procedure prevent that?

Any support would be appreciated... I am absolutely bricking it for the op :-/

Hello, I'm impressed with your climb skills. Unfortunately, I am on the same boat as you. but for what I understand the amount of food you will be eating will be enough for you as your body will adapt to the new stomach i think you will probably have to eat more often.

anyway I hope someone else with actual experience can get you this information.

good luck with your surgery
