Yup.

Sometimes, stuff that never causes you to dump, will make you dump. Then you'll have it again, and you'll be fine. It's weird.

Good idea. Variation in diet helps.

I can eat 30g Rice Krispies 4 days in a row with no problems. On day 5, I'll dump.

Fit and fantastic!
Weetabix is on my specialist's diet advice sheet and has consistently made me dump since the first time - I had my bypass in July 2013. I much prefer Bran Flakes as I do not seem to have a problem, or the NAS Alpen or MOMA NAS porridge are both good with me xx

My dietician told me that Weetabix is a fast release carb so apparently it acts like sugar in your system....causing a sudden spike & then a fall in insulin levels. The dumping may actually be reactive hypoglycaemia. I was advised to stick to oat based cereals instead.

I usually have porridge for breakfast with no problems. Avoid the 'sweetened' fast ones, they make me so ill. As a bonus my dogs love the left overs ;)

In fairness my porridge incident was in the early days. I can get away with a small bowl nowadays but processed and sour dough breads are a big no. I'm fine with my homemade stuff though. There is so much I find I can't eat but most of it is in the nice but naughty foods category so I look at it as a lucky god send. However there are times it gets in the way of things when normally safe foods mug me. Last night was one of those times. My favourite drink is j2o watered down 50/50. It's never even remotely affected me before but oh boy it did last night. Classic early onset. Usually there is a reason why and the only thing I can think of is that I drank it down too quickly. Sometimes it's easy to forget we have been bypassed and as a result forget the rules

Personally I avoid cereal as much as I can in the morning. I find it doesn't satisfy me for very long and a lot of cereals pose a dumping threat because of the sugar content. That said I have never been a breakfast person but with the bypass I can't afford to miss it now. Eggs are so versatile in my day to day breakfasts and full of protein to boot. I occasionally, especially if facing a busy week, make a large frittata and cut it into pieces, wrap them individually to get me through the week.

Puffed wheat ... Plain, simple and not as boring as one might think. Hard to find tho ... And bitesize Shredded Wheat left to soak in hot milk ...

Has anyone had dumping the morning after ?

Apart from one occasion when I had to rush to the loo in IKEA 15 minutes after a kids meal there I have only experienced the bowel issue the day after I have had something I thought may make me dump. I get plenty of occasions where I just need to lay down etc, but have never had the shakes or palpitations.

So I am asking purely about bowel issues. It isn't what I have eaten for breakfast as I only start eating about 11am at the earliest. I read up on late onset dumping syndrome and this seems to indicate something that happens 2 to 4 hours later the same day.

Example, I went out to lunch yesterday and had Cullen Skink, for the uninitiated its a wonderful smoked haddock soup with potatoes made with cream and butter. Yup its rich, thick full of protein and fat. I had half a crusty roll with the pat of butter. So what was I thinking? Well for one I was with my sis in law who does not know about my surgery but does know I love Cullen Skink in that venue. Secondly, I scanned fir something else and was found wanting, and thirdly I am weak.
Anyhoo I expected to need to run to the loo, nothing, I didn't have a BM all day. This morning however I have been 3 times, I guess you would call it a complete clear out. Sorry if tmi.

Is this still dumping, anyone else have this?

Lol I guess. My husband reckons its par for the course, even when I got food poisoning it was a day after everyone else. My innards have always been sluggish.

Reminds me to get some smoked haddock for a change :)
