Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

Hi people!

This is more of a question for the ladies although the men are free to post if they like!

Question is, are there any ladies out there pre or post op with Polycystic ovary syndrome?

Does anyone know if the symptoms will decrease post op?

Or any chance it will vanish completely?

Thanks!
Amy :)

Thanks Gaynor!
Will be here eagerly waiting! Lol!

I am almost 6 months post-op bypasser and I have PCOS. I was told that there would be a 60% chance of PCOS completely reversing with a 70% reduction of my excess weight. I know that is a lot of statistics but, put simply by getting to the conservative goal of a 70% (94lbs for me) loss of your excess weight in 2 years more than half of the people see the symptoms relieved and fertility increased. I know that several women on here have PCOS and are hoping for a return of fertility. I am one of those ladies who would ever so much like to be a mum. I have noticed an easier time with my monthlies & they are like clock work now.

HTH,
Nic

Thanks Nic,

HiYa, I have PCOS and was told Infertility and PCOS* – LAGB has been shown to correct the underlying hormonal problems and to restore fertility in 90% of cases, I am only 4 months Post Op so not noticed a change yet, and only had 2 periods since my Op. I was always Iregular and looks like I still am, but again its still early days for me.

I have pcos (I also have 3 kids) I have teh extrenal signs of pcos and internal, i have been told that losing weight will decrease pcos probems.
I also got pregnant all 3 times whilst on a strikt diet ! (No carb diets to add)
I have 3 kids 6, 4 and 18 months
I was told 12 years ago by the fertility specialists at Saint Marys hospital in Manchester that I would never have children !!!
I am 100% sure that with weight loss your fertility does increase.
GOOD LUCK xxx

I too have PCOS and am also hoping that the symptoms will improve with weight loss - my weight management team have said that they often do.
I'm not trying to conceive - too late for me to try now !! but its the insulin surges that affect me badly, so i am hoping from some relief from these.

love this thread, i just wanted to say that i have pcos and have two lovely children (10 and 15 Yrs) , well they are lovely most of the time :D. There is light at the end of the tunnel, i have to agree with fatbut not 4eva, i too fell pregnant when on a strict diet and at a lower weight.
But there is definately hope even with pcos to be able to have a baby!!! :)

Thanks girlies! Congrats to all those pcos mummys and good luck to all those yet to be a mummy! Fingers crossed for us all!
BIG HUGS!!!

(((hugs))) serenity, I too lost one and told lost another but was not aware. I have a 6yr old which we tried for two years to get him. I have insulin resistant pcos. I think if it weren't for me doing my reflexology training and having regular practice sessions a week I dont think i would have conceived at all.
I am waiting for my bypass date so cant comment on post

Hi Amy, i was diagnoised with PCOS at aged 19. I had horrendous periods, weight gain and the hair problems. Alongside this with several attempts of having a baby failing. i had 3 miscarriages and 4 1/2 years of trying before finally having my first daughter.

9 stone lighter now post bypass my symptoms are so much better. My periods on the whole are regular and manageable. The hair is still an issue but nowhere near as bad as it was. I do really feel that it doesn't control my life anymore. I am not planning anymore children but i have heard others on here say how they have conceived following weight loss.

I hope this helps x

Thanks everyone for your advice. Big hugs.
Just wish this surgery would come sooner rather than later. One of the biggest reasons for having it is because of my infertility. In fact my gyne suggested having the surgery! Anyone having or had the op mainly for their fertility?

It was one of the big reasons for me! My first was just basic health, I needed to improve my health before a stroke or heart attack killed me (history of early on-set heart disease in my family + barely controlled high blood pressure + diabetes + morbid obesity for most my life=certain death at an early age). But after that, my desire for a baby was really high up there in my priorities. I wish you the best of luck and know you are not alone, there are more of us PCOSers than you would think!

HTH,
Nic;)

Thanks Nic. Glad to know i'm not alone. Good luck to you too hun. Big hugs.
Amy :)
