Well! Almost there folks, just getting ready to go to work for the last day before surgery for my Gastric Band. Feel surprisingly calm at the moment, looking forward to it tbh. Fly down to Birmingham from Edinburgh tomorrow. Overnight at Dolan Park, hopefully surgery first thing on Friday morning  No bag packed, nothing, always a last minute kind of gal! Well better go and get on, update later... x :D

How exciting for you, wishing you all the best x

good luck for friday :) my last day at work today also, gotta be at the hospital at 7am tomorrow for my op *gulp* where did the time go??

good luck you will be on the other side b4 you know it

Good luck for friday!

Well, here I am, sitting in my hospital room. Flew down from Edinburgh this morning, slight delay but no problems otherwise. Picked up by a lovely hospital driver. Shown to my room on arrival, a much, needed coffee... Doc arrived to take blood, my veins very reluctant to give any! She got a wee drop, hope's it's enough, or she'll be back for more later. Sitting here enjoying the peace and quiet, suddenly very tired after my early start. Been told to help myself to tea & coffee etc, might have some tea... :)

Well, it's FRIDAY 25/04/14, my Gastric Band op day! Sitting here at 7.30am waiting on nurse coming in to complete my paperwork. I slept fine last night, very quiet on this ward. All I had to eat yesterday was a couple of milky coffees & a chicken cup a soup, not hungry though. I'm really hoping I get taken first, but if not, at least in the morning as I'm a wee bit bored now, finished my book on Kindle, maybe start another later, watched TV and played crappy games on my wee daughters tablet! Plus the sooner I get my op, the more time I'll have to recover before I have to fly home tomorrow. Anyway, bye for now, hopefully my next post will be from the other side... Post Op! ; )

Friday!

Well, folks I'm now BANDED! Mr Super and anesthetist came in to talk me through everything, see if I had Questions ect, both were really good, putting me at ease and explaining in detail. Shook their hand and off they popped to get ready. There was 2 or 3 people before me, I had my shower put on theatre gown, my own breeks,I was allowed to keep them on as they were cotton, much better than paper breeks! Nurse collected me, off we walked to theatre. In first room, confirmed my signature on paperwork, went through what would happen in theatre. All fine. Went in, up on to the table/bed, BP monitor on, other wee monitors stuck on me to monitor vital signs. Cannula in the back of my hand, 2nd time lucky, my veins are truely rubbish, always have bother with them! Oxygen mask on, ohhhhh, I nearly forgot, put the paper hat on my Napper! I was out cold in seconds... I was aware someone was talking to me when I came round, asking me questions, which I was able to answer :) Taken back to my room where I drifted from sleep to wake for a couple of hours, quite happy, in no pain. When I was a bit more with it, got up made my bed neater, wandered about the room, went to the loo. Started sipping the water from the jug they gave me, now finished, going to ask for more soon. Had a much needed cup of coffee... Delicious! Best coffee EVER! Later on I had a tomato cup a soup, lovely. Probably had too much, either that or pain relief wearing off, had a bit of a dull pain in left hand side, beside one of my glued incisions,, 5 of which I have, they are immaculate, small, very tidy, with no dressing on them, quite amazing actually. Asked if I wanted pain relief, said no, wasn't that bed, wind I think. Had a 'Windeaze' and wandered about. Now on bed watching TV, nodding off, going to ask for a cup of tea, another jug of water, then I'm off to sleep ready to be discharged and my, flight home. Phoned my husband and girls, they were worried but are satisfied I'm good. :)

Hi Lola,

Glad to hear alls gone well. All the best with your recovery x

Saturday morning, slept well, up to the loo at 5am, not tired so sending messages to everyone. Wandered about, drank water, feel okay, port site is a bit achey. Wouldn't say it was sore though, wounds are looking brilliant! Can't believe it. See what I'm like after a wee bit 'breakfast' may ask for pain relief for travelling home, especially as I'll be on my own at airport and flying, otherwise I probably wouldn't bother. Better see if I can get another 40 winks before it's time to get up and on with it. :). On another note, I would definitely try to sip water right from the start, aids healing, flushes anesthetic from your body, making you less groggy and tired, helps you go to loo. Also walking helps any pain and wind, every time I'm up I do several laps of the room. Luckily I don't have much wind as yet, hope it stays that way! Nurses very pleased with my progress:) All due to this forum as I studied it religiously for tips before coming in...
