Hi

Sorry - daft question! Having my band fitted tomorrow and have to have fluids only today. Does slim fast count as fluid or is it classed as a meal??

I think it counts as liquid food after the op, not sure about before. If they want you on clear liquids like water, pre op then slimfast probably isn't suitable.

It didn't say clear fluids but I just have an inkling that slim fast wouldn't be right. I think I'll avoid it. Thanks Ruthie. X

Better avoid it if you are unsure. For the op day I had to be clear of food by midnight the previous night and nil by mouth after 5 am. I had the op at 1 pm. Hth

Hello

Check with your provider as they all differ. But normally it is clear liquids/soups( with no bits) water etc, am sure they will give you an post op diet sheet and things will become a lot clearer. Wishing you all the best - Julie xx
