Anyone had dr el hasani as their surgeon?

hi coolas,

i lived on chicken got the ready cooked whole(no skin) ones from tesco i was lucky at the time cos they were half price! i used to have:

brekkie: sugar free ice pop

lunch: sugar free ice pop

dinner: quite abit of chicken, peas and a helping of very very thin gravy

first 4 days were the worst id ever had dieting but then i turned a corner and it seemed to click into place, my head and stomach were ready for the journey ahead.

always feel free to ask me anything xxx

Hi lisa, did you ever keep calling the hospital to check how long for the op, or just let them call you when it was time? I see star a couple of weeks back and she put on the waiting list. I just wondered if you did anything after seeing her?

Hiya Lisa:

Got a hospital letter for what I assume is the promised information session, on 23 Sept. Glad to hear Mr E-H does keyhole surgery, that's such a relief ! I've also now had my follow-up appointment for the other stuff and got officially discharged, no further treatment required -:happy036:

I'm "up top" - Hillcrest Road, just off the main road. It would be great to meet for a coffee - I'm sure I'll learn much more useful stuff from you than at the official info session LOL!

Cheers,
Rose

hiya rose, lisa here im so so happy that you got the all clear, what a huge relief for you hopefully now you can concentrate on the WLS. i didnt get invited to any sessions! but im sure it wont be long till you get yours. mr el hasani specialises in keyhole surgery(thank goodness) so like me you will be left with 5/6 small punture scares which are fading by the minute.
i know biggin hill very well, my best mate lives in swievelands rd, are you in the valley or up top?

hi mark

i went on the waiting list last august was told it would be a year. i first rang after xmas and was told it would be at least august i was gutted! my OH told me to ring again in march which i did i was then told it would be end of june which i was really pleased about, then i got a phone call 3weeks later to be told my op would be on the 13th may!!!!!! so my advice would be to leave it about 5 months and then ring every 6 weeks and tell them you can except cancellation as well, good luck, keep me posted.

hi rose

i would have loved to have met up for a coffee but i moved away to herne bay last year and dont get up your way that much now. just give me a shout though if you need any help.

3 weeks to go and I'm feeling nervous! Hope it will be worth it.

it will be soooooooooo worth it!!!!

Just had pre-op appointment - got some weird blowy thing to blow into every 15 minutes....
And told that I have to inject myself every day for a month with stuff to stop blood clots. UGH!
Pre-op diet starts tomorrow.... going to be all chickened out over the next 2 weeks...

Now my surgery's been moved to Princess Royal and is a week later. Have to start the diet again and go through the whole pre-op thing from scratch....

feeling a bit emotional.:(

Hi, I also had an appointment with Mr. Hassani today and i also found him quite rude ! my doctor referred me for gastric banding but Mr. Hassani said he didnt think they worked and would only do bypass , im a bit shell shocked as this is a much more invasine surgery and im very nervous as i have a teenager and a 6 year old and feel the risks are much greater, he basically said that was what he thought do you want it or not !! ( very blunt and insensitive!!). Im a little confused and although i said yes im not sure what to do ?? any one got any advice please ??
thanks

Sounds just like my appointment with him in July so I'm guessing he must say much the same to everyone ! I was expecting a 12 month wait too, but when I went for the information session last month they said they liked to aim for 3-4 months. Then my appointment came through a week later - surgery on 6 December ! Yikes ! It's all happened a bit quick  I just hope I'm ready...

ahh coolas what a nuisance! i had to stay at orpington for my first to nights and had to travel to princess royal on the morning of my op! on the good side though is the nurses at princess royal are fantastic so it maybe worth the extra 7 days wait!

the blow thing drove me nuts! and they keep making sure you do it! saying that it is for our own good so i guess we should be grateful. the injections are fine was glad when the month was over though! didnt really hurt, was probably due to my extra large belly with excess fat for the needle to sink in!

hi deeby

i had a bypass with mr el hasani in may, ive lost 6 stone in 5 months and its the best thing ive ever done, like you i had a 7 year old daughter and its such a worry but after reading post after post on here i started gaining confidence and realised that if anything i had to do it for her. i understand what your saying about it being invasive and that its final but i wanted it to be final as i didnt want to lose weight and then like all my other diets put the weight and more back on again, i didnt want the band as i didnt want something foreign in my body and the thought of getting refills all the time and being injected in a port hole made me feel quite ill, with the bypass once its done then thats it, i know mr el hasani is rude but he is a fantastic surgeon and its that that matters, my scars are minimal and i've had no comlications. my advice to you would be to read, read ,read on this website it really helped me and hopefully it will help you to.

And I agree Mr EH is very rude no bedside maaner but Starr his bariatric nurse more than makes up for him.He is a fab surgeon and if you do not do as you are advised he looses ntrest.I have lost nearly 7 stone since April thanks to him and his skills Carin

Hi,

Im up for a meet up if amyone fancies it Mr El Hasanis patients be good to see anyone.I'll organise if enough interested cx

it's so nice to hear from someone else who have had there surgery with EH everyone else is still waiting! im a month behind you and as you am doing great, have you had any problems? i havent, it's all been quite straight forward for me, found the first month the hardest.

Thanks everyone for your advice its really helped, god, im soooo glad i found this site !!
Ive tried talking things over with my hubby and my Mum (both are very supportive), but they obviously cant really understand how i feel about myself and what its like to be obese even if they are empathetic, its so nice for me to talk to people who really understand and who are going through the same things AND with the same surgeon.... i feel so lucky now !
xx

I think the idea of a meet up is fantastic and i would defo be up for it, it would be nice to meet other people who are just like me
