Which Vitamin/Mineral Supplement is Best? Also Antacid?

Which vitamin / mineral supplement do you take?

I'm hearing that they are really hard to take as they are very large tablets.

Do you think there is any value in starting them pre op?

Also can you buy Vit B12 tablets? Some people have been told they need these as injections but there is no mention of them from my consultant, specialist nurse or dietition.

I've also been reading that some people need to take antacid tablets, again no mention from my consultant, specialist nurse or dietition.

You will be given the antacid tablets when you leave and will then need to get a repeat presciption of these............

you can get your vitamin on prescription from your GP... although Michael recommends Sanatogen Gold A-Z

It seems that like with most things, different surgeons prefer different types. I am on Zoton rapid antacid and forceval vits/minerals. Also ferrous fumerate iron, and calcichew calcium. The forceval are massive but they've always gone down fine.

As for B12, I asked about tablets and was told post bypass the injection is necessary as malabsorption affects the uptake of the tablets.

Hi i take forceval mutli vits, calichew, iron, zinc znd selenaise. i take lanzoprazole anti acid. all of these are on prescription. every surgeon is different so they should tell you what they recommend. xx
