Good luck, my own PCT only offered the op with co morbitities. I am not sure about yours, fingers crossed.

Well I think with the stats that you listed you have a very great chance of getting funding! Fingers crossed, good luck x

Good luck Zoe I hope you get your funding. Keep us posted xxx

hiya has anyone explained what co morbidities are? do you have high blood pressure, diabetes or sleep apneoa? if you have any of these it will support your funding application. your bmi would have been big enough to get funding from my local pct but they are all different. check out your pct's website and search under bariatric surgery criteria. it should give you the criteria that they use. mine used the 'nice guidelines' if yours does google nice and it will give you a list xxx hope this helps :)

hi yviec i got high blood pressure and asthma ! could you tell me how it work what will happen next ??? my doctor said today he will refer me thanks zoe

All areas are different but your doctor should have checked that you meet the criteria. When the referral is sent it will probably go in front of a funding panel. The best thing you can do us open a thread shouting out to people in your area. They will be able to tell you how your pct does things and give you an idea of your timescales. Also ask if there is a support group in your area they are fantastic for getting information xx

Mine didn't" include blood pressure in the calculations and it didn't" matter how high you BMi was if you didn't have diabetes or sleep apnea . That said all areas are different so the best advice will be from someone who is from your area!!!

Hi, Zoe, I've just checked the criteria for your area on the BOSPA website, it says BMI of over 40 and at least 12 months on a specialist weight management programme and a commitment to lifestyle change and weight loss.
So I'd say you have every chance of getting funding, although you may need to do the weight management course first.
Lots and lots of luck and feel free to post any questions on here.
Em xxxx

hi evenstarr the doctor said that worcester rules have change if ur bmi is over 55 you get the funding , but then other people saying no lol so im confussed could i ring up the pct and ask what there criteria is ? thanks hun x

It sounds like your GP is on the ball and knows what he/her is talking about. But it won't do any harm to ring your PCT if it's going to set your mind at rest.

Your pct will send you the criteria for funding. If you have to do a weight management programme & it is not via the hospital etc make sure you have independent records of it. I say this coz my friend did slimming world & had to provide records of her attendance etc. to the pct for evidence for her funding. she lost her books & it was a nightmare to prove her attendance via her local branch due to personnel changes.

Good luck Zoe xx i was turned down twice for different things so don't give up and do whatever they ask of you diets psychiatrist etc etc i'm sure they should do it with bmi so high but it depends on co morbidities so much too :)
