As anyone got any tips on how to relieve this? I've had it pretty much non stop for the whole 9 weeks :( it's horrid

Im afraid that its a way of life now. Get as much liquid in as possible. But best thing is to use some form of laxative. Personally I use glycerine suppositories as and when I need.

I've always had this problem throughout by band years. Bypassed It's now worse than ever and has started to upset me today. I'm terrified of taking lactulose (may caused dumping?)or any form of tablet ( may get stuck?)
I'm going to try those glycerine 'stick ups' !
Wish I'd looked whilst in boots today but got side tracked at they had cosmetics on offer !!!!!

Thanks both. I've been using the suppositories but (tmi) they feel like the only get rid of some of it not all of it. It's so yuck I was thinking of going for a colonic!! I tried lactulose didn't make me dump but did make my pouch feel like it was on fire! :/

You won't dump on Lactolose, it's an indigestible form sugar, that's how it works. I dont think like it though, never seems to do a full job, if you know what mean. A senna liquid may be a good option.

Order an enema can from Amazon - I do it in my shower in the morning. Easy and refreshing and it really works. A pint sized one should be more than big enough. I've struggled with constipation my whole life and it's the only thing that continually helps. I use the glycerin suppositories when I travel.

I used sun sweet prune juice really does the trick can buy in ASDA AND other superamrkets day and night have some but only try half dose incase you dump first time round does work xx

Movicol works very well, and your GP can prescribe it if needed long term. Takes a few days to get working but well worth it.

Never thought of this but it sounds like what I need. I've been googling it!!!

Crazy busy today but will get back to your PM as soon as I'm home from work. I'll hook you up ;)
Thanks doll
Received with thanks. I replied but my pm box is full and won't allow me to now send. I need to delete some but via the PC later !!!

Hope you get sorted. I remember on lighter life I was crippled with it but been fine since my bypass. It's horrendous x

20 mls of magnesium hydroxide when you need it. It works it's way down from the top and stop constipation high up that suppositories or enema can't reach, if you do try supps or enemas you should only ever insert whilst laying on your left side to follow the natural position of the bowel! I've nursed for 25 years and have seen the results of this not done properly over time and it ain't nice! X

I'm having terrible trouble going, I agree with everyone about movicol it tastes awful but does work after a couple of days for me. It tastes really salty, so i had a look today how much is in one sachet and its nearly your salt intake for one day in the sachet, long term that can't be good can it. I'm going to speak with my team to see if they have an alternative as lactulose doesn't work great for me. Does the salt worry anyone else?
