bowel pain blockage ?

hi all, long time since i was on here, thought i was doing really well im down to 100kg now after gastric bypass, ive been getting a really very bad chronic pain in my left side front and it goes into my back.
we got intouch with the nhs 1 to 1 but they were useless asking me to make my own way to hospital, it starts like cramp pain and goes into my back and if i push my hand under my belly button the pain gets worse!
this started on sunday the 11th at 3am it lasted 3 hourse of me walking up and down thinking i could shift the pain trying to go to the toilet for a poo, my local dr thinks its a blocked bowel! im not so sure' he's given me laxido orange laxatives to take and bisacodyl tablets the laxatives help but i tryed to take a microwave fish pie for tea big mistake it gave me the worst pain i have ever had in my life, and now a week as passed im still in pain, still get gurgling noises when i drink or take food, just need advice, my local dr phoned and said he was going to get intouch with mr r ackroyed to arrange to see me.
i have a update appointment with mr r ackroyed but not while 25th feb which i think his too long away, im starving at present not had a lot to eat since last monday night today i managed to have a bit of custard warmed up as cold yogs hurt my tummy, the soup i had just bungs me up and gives me pain.

advice help please?

Hi I was trying to describe this type of pain to someone else on here yesterday because she has a pain and I thought it might be the same. I'm bypassed 10 October 14 I get a pain on my left side and I described it to my hubby like you can almost trace poo coming down until it gets out. I don't go very often now I've started to keep a note in diary so I can see if there is a patten, does it go once you've been for a poo or have you not had this before. It's a bit like someone wringing out a cloth and as they squeeze the poo comes down bit by bit, more rumbling, and cramps pains. Last time I had it to try to prevent again I've used my veg and fruit also now having home made juices. Hope you get it sorted sorry I'm not much help but it does sound like its the same as me.

Hi beefy
How many laxidos are you taking hun? And what calcium tabs are you on?
Try upping your liquid intake too. At the moment I need to take two laxidos a day but initially I was having to down 5 of them then down to 4 etc just to get me going again. I'm at loggerheads with my GP who claims that because I'm low in both calcium and vit D then the doubled up AdcalD is still the best for me. I'm presently waiting for my dietician to write to him as regards changing this as I know this is why I suffering bouts of painful immovable stops. Good luck beefy x

I find suppostries work better for me if I get constipated. Oral ones tend up make my pouch hurt :( keep us posted how you are x

Many of us suffer with Gallbladder problems once we've had weightloss surgery...I found ANY proteins kicked mine off....pain sounds similar...it might not be the gallbladder itself, but could be a gallstone...

Hope its sorted soon, whatever it is

HI I AM 31/2 yrs post now and suffer these type pains. I find there is no rhyme or reason with mine. I know when I have a bad episode I take buscopan round the clock and for another 4 days afterwards because it leaves my insides feeling bruised. my doc prescribes this for me when its bad its bad like u say for hours on end. I sometimes feel like something is trying to push through and it cant. I recently read that it could be kidney stones and is painful till we pass them. I was diagnosed with bowel colic that wot my gp said which is just trapped wind in bowel but boy does it hurt. I can go to the toilet ok sometimes then not others. there is no rule book at all to how the body reacts after this op we are all unique but there are similarities x

Hi,phoned support nurse last Wednesday about 4:40 the nurse phoned back when I explained what pain I had she said I could have a hernia in my intestine's or gall stones, she would have to get in touch with Mr R Acroyed as he would need a MRI scan, but I'm still waiting to hear from them told them I'm in chronic pain, phoned them again Monday gone and left a msg.

buis pain is the most hellish pain I've ever had when it comes on I can not sit stand or walk I'm trying to be sick feels like I've got trapped wind, the pain goes but its with me for about 14hours and in that time I'm crying with pain, the Dr said I can take licquid paracetamol which does nothing, I drink lots of water to try and help as food hurts, after the main chronic pain has gone I feel like I've been doing 100 pushups or a horse has kicked me. These Buscopan tablets what are they like to take ? Can I get them off my Dr? What other pain meds can I get?
At present waiting to hear back from consultant! I've a follow up appointment on 25 feb to see Mr R Ackroyed well it always says to see him but I see his lovely Dr under him, but if I wait while 25th I'm going to be very mad, as I'm getting this chronic pain more now and for 12hours or more crying with pain wanting it to end we shouldn't have to suffer, I could phone 999' but I'd get taken to my local Barnsley hospital where I've no faith in them at all.
I'm in the waiting game while Friday then will phone again and complain.
Thanks to all who have commented on here. BBB.

HI sorry to hear you are still suffering so badly. buscopan are small white sugar coated which are easy to take. I carry them wherever I go. YOur doc can prescribe them but you can buy them over the counter. I bought them first then got them off the doctor. He tells me to take them immediately I FEEL THE PAIN AND THEN FOR another 4 days after which seems to calm everything down again. I had an awful bad attack last Oct time. It came on at work as I was lone working. I was crippled from around 10 ish on the morning. I CAME HOME ON THE 530PM bus I struggled to sit on the bus my journey is only 10mins but hey I have a 15 min walk to the bus and then same when I get off. I was doubled up walking to and from the bus.
I had to call at my parents as I was meeting my daughter. My father just looked at me and said bloody hell whats the matter you look awful are you in pain. Understatement!!! He offered me alift home which I declined the bus had finished me off. I walked home, I had arranged for a friend to come that evening I was no host I lay on our couch with a hot water bottle. She went home early. I thought several times about ringing 999 I was really bad. BUt fear kept me from it I thought if its only wind I am wasting someone elses time. I did not go but I did not get rid of the pain till around 5am thenext morning. I was physically exhausted and took my buscopan for the foillowing few days. I have had a few bad episodes but that was the very worst one. xx My heart goes out to you. I have found nothing specific to relate it to in the food range. Keepp asking for help. It needs sorting. x

I have never taken buscopan all the time so I am not sure but I DON'T SEE WHY NOT. I have not had tests done at all just mine is intermittent so not all the time like you are having luckily I can have a few good weeks in between. Doctor has never mentioned it and I never thought to ask at hospital I only went twice after the op and was in and out quite quickly so never got to mention it. However it is not right that you can't eat without pain. When I have had a bad episode I have to eat soft easy food for 2/3 days like you it would be soup, custard etc. no bread or things like that. porridge and Weetabix I would have. YOu are losing fabulously, and I am pleased they are looking at your netx appointment and bringing it forward you defo need MRI to see whats happening, have thye checked you out for ulcers? Did they find anything when they did your endoscopy?

hi, you mean when they did my gastric bypass as in endoscopy? Not had any tests done for ulcers, a couple of years back had really bad gastric reflux burning throat they put camera down into stomach, its just worrying as its a good year after my gastric bypass October 30 2014 to get like this, has I feel now I've still got back and side pain with flank pain as well but its only a pain 1 when this pain goes into rage pain I get a pain 6 out of ten that's when I'm trying to walk the pain away, I get into all moves on the bed to try and feel better, tens machine helps but sometimes a bottle or beanbag make it worse, no idea what pain killers to take to ease the pain,my last attack was last Thursday but at present I know its there. I've got some buscopan IBS tablets 10mg to try three tablets 3 x a day, going to see what these do, a friend of mine had this drug in a injection after she had a bad hernia said it works wonders.
Right must get washing done, got to fix burgular alarm and remake log fire before wife gets home, oh and cook tea for when twin boys come in from school. BBB
