Hi I'm new to all this, your typical tried everything else and now had enough so the gp has referred me and I attend Sunderland royal on Wednesday for the seminar.. just wondering what the average time is lately from first seminar to actual surgery, the most recent I can find was 2013 and it was averaged at 18minths surely things have progressed since then I have only waited 4 weeks from speaking to dr to the seminar so it's looking good, I'm 26 with a bmi 40, happily married and doing this for my young children and myself. Extremely excited and also impatient.. can any1 help and give me ideas of times and what happens and ext xx

Hi leah....
I started my journey with the seminar last may ... took 3 weeks from referral to seminar then the wait began ... finished the tier 3 program in December... just had final consultant appointment in april where I was told I'd have a bypass done ... had an endoscopy on may 30th and now waiting for surgery date ... which I'm told is about 3 month after endoscopy... so all in all from seminar to surgery should be 15/16 month .
Long time when you desperately want it NOW !!!!

Aw noo.. things have been so quick so far I had seminar 14th June and got meeting with nurse 28th (Wednesday) so only waited 2 weeks what happened after this meeting with the nurse specialist ? X and wow bet your excited now. Have you lost any weight doing there programme ? X

I've lost 2 stone ...
After the nurse it's just referral to the dietician who gives you a target weight then the weight loss program ...four ..4 hour classes on weight loss education.
Unfortunately it's still a bit of a wait for you yet ... but if you just concentrate on loosing it should pass quickly xxx

I finished the weight loss sessions a few weeks ago. We were told in the last session we could realistically expect surgery just before Christmas or very early in new year providing we have no other outstanding medical issues to deal with. They are catching up on a back log and there's been talk of doing overtime to get more surgeries done and clear the backlog. Good luck. X

Well I'm still waiting ..... had my endoscopy back on 31st May ...given my milk diet and told someone would be in touch as next date is surgery .... still waiting ....
I have rang nurses and surgeon's secretary... it's 18 weeks from endoscopy to surgery at minute... so hoping I get my date soon .
From start to finish for me ...having no medical or psychological issues... really straightforward... finished my seminar and weight loss program ... attended all appointments and missed nothing .... it's took over a teal and a half .... it's going to be closer to 2 years by the time I have my surgery .
After my weight loss program finished they said expect surgery by June ... it's going to be October or November by the time I have my surgery ....
