BOBBY873

Six Month Post Op
Hi,

With surgery on Sunday and my current weight is180kg ( 396lbs). :wave_cry:

The question is have I set my target weight of 100kg (220lbs) too ambitious?:)

Based on the Robinson formula (1983), my ideal weight should be 72.6kg (173.3 lbs) !!!!

If I lose 80kg (176lbs) I wll hit the target wieght, but still be 27kg (59lbs) above my ideal weight?

I am told by some that the most I will lose is 70% of excess weight which is 76Kg (167lbs) ( 180.00kg - 72.00kg=108kg. 108 x 70%=76kg), which is within 4kg of my target !!!! :happy096:

Based on the Robinson formula (1983), my ideal weight is 72.6 kgs
Based on the Miller formula (1983), my ideal weight is 71.5 kgs
Based on the Devine formula (1974), my ideal weight is 75.0 kgs
Based on the Hamwi formula (1964), my ideal weight is 77.3 kgs
Based on the healthy BMI recommendation, my recommended weight is 59.9 kgs - 81.0 kgs

J. D. Robinson Formula (1983)

52 kg + 1.9 kg per inch over 5 feet (man)
49 kg + 1.7 kg per inch over 5 feet (woman)

D. R. Miller Formula (1983)

56.2 kg + 1.41 kg per inch over 5 feet (man)
53.1 kg + 1.36 kg per inch over 5 feet (woman)

G. J. Hamwi Formula (1964)

48.0 kg + 2.7 kg per inch over 5 feet (man)
45.5 kg + 2.2 kg per inch over 5 feet (woman)

B. J. Devine Formula (1974)

50.0 + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 feet (man)
45.5 + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 feet (woman)

The World Health Organization (WHO) Recommended Healthy BMI Range

18.5 - 25 for both man and woman

So many numbers!!!!:sign0009:

I know that this journey will not be an exact sience but is 100kg really possible?

I have lost over 100% of my excess weight.
I too was told I would only lose 70%

Men seem to do better at losing weight than us ladies so you never know
Check out Karlos he started at 400lb and lost 249lb
There are plenty of others that have lost bigger amounts than you need to.
Good Luck

I am 2lb short of my 100% excess weight loss but would like go a little further case I gain a lb or 2 so Im not immediately bk in the overweight catagory, I never ever thought I would get here but I have.
I would say have patients (hardest part), and stick with ur providers rules and u can get there your body will tell you when it doesnt want to lose any more weight. Good Luck with your journey x

I lost 100% of my excess weight too. The percentages ie 70% for a bypass and 50% for band, etc are just averages.

You CAN do it! x

I started similar to you and almost six months out I am almost halfway there! So I believe its possible if we can put in the work

It depends on your diet and the work out you do. If you have a proper diet plan prepared and you do regular exercises like morning walk, yoga , going to the gym, in this case you will reduce weight tremendously.

Its a million things that get you to your final weight. Following the 'rules', not getting complacent, believing you can do it, exercise, but sometimes it just won't go lower and there is nothing you can do. Its not an exact science but many, myself included lost over 100% of our loss. My own surgeon thought I would never get below 16 stone (from 33) and would be back for a revision. Beat him well on the former who can say about the latter but still successfully maintaining at almost 4 years out

Good luck

M
