Hi everyone

I have recently (last week) been referred for bariatric surgery at SRH. I am 26yr old, I weigh 22 n half stone which gives me a BMI of 53!!! I am also bipolar and diabetic type 2!

I'm waiting on a seminar date to get the ball rolling. Anyone else who has gone nhs through Sunderland royal, how long did u wait in total? X

I had my bypass in march and I waited 2 1/2 years from referral to op so it is a lengthy time to wait I think the average is 2 years at SRH.

Gives plenty of tune to get your head round everything and to be prepared for the changes that are ahead

Good luck

I'm not from SRH but wanted to say welcome x

My seminar date was approx June 2012 and my op date for Gastric Bypass is this coming Saturday - July 20th 2013.

Fingers crossed you dont have to wait too long.

That's not long at all I'm hoping for a year but some people are saying 2 years :( il just have to be a patient patient lol :)

Just got my surgery date through (\o/) so from Seminar to surgery will have been 18 months

I'm 8 month from seminar had 2 appointments first with dietician 4 months from seminar then another 3 months to see surgeon... On first app with dietician I lost 4 and half stone but then injured my already bad back and currently off work sick waiting for back operation so when I saw surgeon I had put a little bit back on he still seemed happy with weight loss and has referred me for endoscopy does anyone know how long I will wait for the next appointment

I waited 5 months from my endoscopy to my bypass i was told whenthey did my endoscopy that i was put on the waiting list and to wait for a letter. i did ring up after 3 months and was givena provisionaldate which. turned out to be my actual date .

How long from being told you need an endoscopy did you actually get it done.... Also I am waiting for an app to go pick up a sleep apnea machine and that's been over a month now and still no word many thanks

I went for the seminar in Nov 2014 and am having a bypass on tuesday 17th may. I have type 2 diabeties as well. The process would have been quicker if after seeing the diabetic specialist the person who refers you onto the next stage hadn't forgot to refer me twice. But once they realised after I had phoned the bariatric nurse to query what was happening, since then the rest of the process has been quick.

Good luck

Carol

It varies so much through the country that it is hard to equate one scheme with any other
