when I asked if I could transfer was told as these were in a different hospital group I would have to start the whole referral process again so could be waiting just as long!!!

It's a shame most gps don't give people the choice of where to go I was lucky I had a choice of Sunderland or rakelane. There are 3 hospitals in the north east that do wlsurgery most people are referred to Sunderland which has the longest waiting time. Me, Louise and wencho have all waited under a year from seminar to op and wencho was only 7 months. Sunderland is excellent but rake lane is equally good and it's a shame more people from north east are not referred there to reduce Sunderland waiting times. X

they told us at the seminar un about that but there only gonna start off with the easier ops but like you say it might get us done a little quicker x

my hubby said they mentioned it but i think i only heard what i wanted to hear x

lol your like me kelle just hear what ya need to. it wont b long for ya next appointment hun time will fly for you . im still waiting for mine not expecting it any time soon though x

Until 2 or 3 months ago there was only Sunderland who carried out the (NHS) operations in the North East I think Darlington and Middlesbrough got the go ahead to carry out the ops in Oct/ Nov this year xx

yeah thats what i got told as well un x

Rake lane (north Tyneside general hospital) in the north east have been carrying out nhs bariatrics for at least 4 years. Mr woodcock got trained in Sunderland and used to be a surgeon there then moved to rake lane to start his own clinic. X

james cook university hospital

Hi there
I have been attending the specialist weight loss team for the past year and the dietician has just told me that Stockton, Darlington, and James cook
will all be offering surgery.
I am awaiting an appointment at JCUH to be assessed for gastric surgery as they seem less keen on the lap band due to complications.
I am scared about the surgery and the pre and post op diet but am tired of continually trying to lose 10 stones plus.
I hope you get a referral into the team.
Take care. C

thanks hun x

When I went to the seminar in July, they told us that the up coming hospitals were James cook and Darlington, and also north tees

Hiya - I had an appointment with Mr Schroeder at SRH on 23rd November, and he said then that Mbro and Darlington were just getting the go ahead to do some surgeries.
He said that they would "cherry pick easy cases" at first, with no complicating factors. He did say that it should help the waiting lists, but my hubbie was more keen for me to still go to Sunderland, because of their massive, and long term, experience.

I felt after my seminar that it was going to take forever, but the time has flown by, and the times that they gave from the start have been fairly accurate - except for 1 cancelled appointment.

x

they told me at my seminar i would get my next appointment in 4mth but its 7mths away x

That really is rubbish! I really think that the long waiting times are so hard. I hope it passes quick for you. x
