Painkillers

i was bypassed, but given morphine, liquid paracetamol and tramadol (which made me sick lol)

i dont know if its the same for banders :)

.x.

In recovery I had one dose of morphine, then 3 hours later, tramadol and then I was home before I began on the soluable paracetamol and declafinic (sp?)

They tell you to take pain med regularly and not to be brave and let pain develope.

That is an important point Caz - lots of people think i will be brave but if you keep your pain relief up then they stay in your system and will keep the pain at bay or at least at a level you can live with

I did exactly that!! Thought I'd be brave but OMFG how I wish I had something I could take. Had morphine when 1st came out of theatre and while on hdu. Once on ward I was given tramadol. The powder was taken from the capsule and put in water and tastes vile. Made me sick after a while. The paracetamol suspension made me gag everytime it got near my mouth. It is so thick and sweet its like putting runny icing in your mouth so I stopped taking that too.I went to see my gp today and was going to ask for something different but did'nt get chance so I'm plodding along but only mild pain so am coping lol

i had morphine in hosp, then tramadol and codiene. codiene causes constapation so best to not take them long term.
