So I'm due to go into hospital on Monday, with my op on Tuesday...

I haven't had a period in 2 months.... UNTILL NOW.

Thanks a lot body, yeah cheers... Tip top timing!

Lol it's just my luck eh... so uhhhh am i gunna be able to sort myself out? Or is some unlucky nurse going to have the pleasure?!

lol

.x.

I know I'm a way off from having Op, but funny thing is I woke up this morning with stomach ache and thought TOTM :(. How will I cope if that happen same day as OP :(.
I worry will I be able to get up and sort myself? How soon can I shower? The last time a nurse sorted me was when I had a Caesarean Section 19 years ago. The nurses were great, I was to drugged up and in to much pain to care.
I so glad you got so many reply as it has put my mind at ease :).
What us women have to go through.

Hi
I was on on my heaviest day on op day !! 3 weeks ago.

bit graphic coming up but I wished I would have known would have put me at ease - tune out if squeamish !!!

you hold a pad between your legs walking to theatre not a problem, i took my tampax out just before I went down so Ok there - ward nurse told theatre nurse.

Then off to land of nod so dont know or care woke up with a pad there and it didnt interfere with the catheter.

I bought some of those feminine hygiene wipes lol !!! and they were a bloody godsend I was able to keep myself fresh and clean straight after the op even though the nurses put a protective thing under me and checked me and offer to give you a wash ( I did it ) I could sort myself !!!!!!!!!!

sorry for that graphic menstrual description but hope it helps I was VERY worried about it - you will be fine xxx

Hi as Starry said you will be fine. I had a similar experience when i had a laparoscopy, walking to the theatre with a surf board between my legs curtousy of the hospital!

It was the internal they gave me prior to surgery that started it off anyway!

At least you know and can prepare for it.

this may be a bit off topic

anyway stupid me i am no dr and can't ask my former gynaecologist this as i have being discharged

sorry here. don't like discussing these issues

anyway i posted a thread[and annoyed you all as usual i;m sure ] about this in the pregnancy section..

anyway i read some women on the forum have problems with totm[ie rarely if ever get totm..in this thread for example] ..yet they don't have to worry about osteoporosis

i have that problem[rarely if ever get totm] due to a medical condition where my ovaries don't work right but i don't think i have pcos

anyway was wondering as due to my ovaries not working right i was warned i could be at risk of osteoporosis and have had to have 3 bone scans [i'm 27] and i have a bone scan every 2 years...and i have to take calcium supplements and bonviva [or else they worry i will get osteoporosis younger than most ] .

so i was wondering about this..does lack of totm not nesicarily mean increased risk of osteoporosis ?? would be great if it did and would be a weight off my mind/....sorry i'm just curious about this due to my situation

You have my sympathy lol
I went down to theatre and came back with pain in my stomach (no surprise there) and when they eventually let me go on the comode, the nurse said I had blood in my urine!! I was still groggy from anaesthetic but told her it would be my period and not to worry!!

How did I know? cos when i went in for my band the shock of the op brought on a period..so this time I was prepared!! Nurse was VERY impressed...lol

As everyone else has said, they have seen it all and it's nothing to them...just take BIG pads..it makes it easier..

Good luck with your op and don't worry..xx

the nurse came to take me up for my op and doing her final check asked when my last period was, when i told her it was overdue she made me go do a pregancy test two minutes before i was due to go, i think the stress and worry had stopped it from coming but when i went to take the test sods law there it was and i had no problems at all as i was up and about in no time after the op x
