Takeaway options post bypass?

Absolutely... eating too little with just make your body go into starvation mode, and you will make yourself ill as you will not be getting the nutrients you need.

Now, about takeaways... I have yet to eat a takeaway, but when I met with the girls at Gunwarf Quays the other weekend, we shared an Indian - Saag Aloo and Chana Masala, all made with a limited amount of oil as I told them oily food would make us sick and they wouldn't want to have to clean up the mess!!!

They complied and it was very dry and healthy... :D

I know... Sue and I won't be returning there in a hurry after that comment!!!

LOL!!!

Have yet to try noodles, and I know that rice makes me ill... I went to Wagamamas with my mate about 3 weeks ago and had a kiddie meal with no fried stuff, just rice and some veggies - 5 teaspoons in and I was in pain. Rice got stuck. Not to be repeated!!!

I know the feeling, i tried rice too but with a chilli, and had the same, a few mouthfuls in i was full, i think it continues to swell in your stomach, something to avoid for the future i think !

Richard. I'm going to get stern with you now, and no in a kinky way. EAT.

You need to be eating 3 small meals a day, whether you want them or not. You're not going to be hungry now, but food is your bodies fuel and you wouldn't drive your car on empty all day would you?

Sort it out boy.

Ok i gave in and had some cheese and biscuits about 3pm today ;)

and for breakfast? Richard you are naughty.

I am fine with rice :D Don't know if its cos I use the cheats microwave rice so its already cooked long before it gets to me?

i'm just 5 weeks post op ! if i were 5 years post op and still not able or want to eat then yep i'd probably have a problem ! i'm still on mushy for at least another week so meat and harder foods are of the menu for a while more !

Yes but even on mush you're supposed to have 3 meals a day!

Richard, you're a grown man, and if you're happy with your eating then thats up to you :) I'm only expressing concern because what you're doing goes against everything that I have been told and read and advised. If I told my dietician at any point post op that I was only eating once a day she'd go mental.

I physically cannot stomach 3 meals a day, i've spoken directly with my consultant today about this and he's said its not a problem, just eat when i want to and if i dont want to eat dont force myself. He's also said that in time i will want more food, but at the moment to still take it easy !
Sorry shel, with 20 years as an obesity specialist i tend to believe he knows what he's talking about !

hey richard i know what you mean as im 15 months ost op and i only eat once a day, it doesnt bother me at all............. as for takeaways i still cant eat rice or i will be sick, i can manage half a chow mein though, at the end of the day its all trial and error, i cant eat bread either if its crusty then i can but not sliced nd chops are out full stop but sliced meat not too bad, and since my op i cant look at potatoes or milk i havnt had them for 15 months now and i loved them before, only now can i eat crackers, good luck xxx

Thanks Georgina

I think your right and have a avery valid point, we are all individuals and whether we have a band or bypass each of us is going to experience variations on what we can eat and now stomach, i also think there is a variety of advice from professionals out there floating around, and anyone reading these threads should always take the advice of there own health professional in these matters if at all concerned.

Cheers

Richard

Absolutely... it's nice to share ideas and experiences, but at the end of the day I always refer back to Shaw and his team :)

i agree anyone who has worries should consult with their surgeon or dietician, at the end of the day we chose to have the op and its by no means fair some have had it easier than others, but its a learning process and has to be worked at no matter what, id litterally kill to eat a lamb or pork chop lol, but now i can eat most things, some days i can get in god knows what lol, and others i hardly eat a thing but you will get hunger pains again and thats a fact xxx

yup, i've had a kids turkey sub on wheat bread, with lettuce and a small bit of low fat mayo :) was very nice!
