Terrified..

I have my first hospital appointment with the clinical nurse specialist (or so it says on the letter they sent me) on the 18th and I'm so nervous and scared. I'm thinking up all kinds of horrible scenarios in my head, like having to be physically examined and things like that, which is one of my biggest fears.

So can someone tell me what happened at their first hospital appt. with the nurse? I know I'm gonna have blood tests and that's fine, but what else happens? I need to know so I can psych myself up and not freak out on the day. :(

Thanks.

Lolly I cant tell you as Im not under your PCt and they all work differently. My advise is ring them and ask them what will happen. At least then you will know from the horses mouth so to speak.
There are so many different appointments for different PCT;s and hospitals, ring them so you get the right information to put your mind at ease.

If its any hoelp though, I hate being examined, when conscious lol, and I had to have a groin swab for MRSA and an ECG, boobs out for the nurse, on Tuesday and all I thought was its a means to an end. And they have seen it all before :)

Elffie is right you know, it's really nothing to be worried about. I admit I was really worried about mine as well. It's only natural though, and to be totally expected. I mean , wls is a huge change in our lives right? Your emotions are on overload for all kinds of reasons.
Please don't worry yourself. Just think of it as a sign that this is really happening for you and you're gonna be slinky and gorgeous in no time x

I can't tell what they will or won't do but just wanted to give you my support.....I'm sure there's nothing to much to worry about just look at it as the start of your new life - Good luck:)

Apart from the ECG and MRSA swabs (which they let me do myself) I don't think I was physically examined as such before the op.

Most of it was blood tests, breathing etc.

My first appt with nurse she literally took bloods, weighed and measured me, talked me through the procedure, asked me some questions about my thoughts on the op and sent me off for an ECG, then I saw the medic, but that was already booked in as part of the appt.
You will be fine dont worry they dont strip you off.
My second lot of appts are the 18th so I will think of you.
I am nervous about those, hey ho we cant win.

Jayxx
