Hi well reading all your great stories I thought it was about time I told mine so here goes.

I'm a 35 single mom of two,iv battled with my weight since as far back as primary school always being the biggest of my group I joined my first slimming club at the age of 16 weighing 13st 6 and just been on a diet ever since, doing well for the first five or so weeks and just getting bored and pilling even more back on.
After so much thought and conversations with friends that have had weight loss surgery, I booked into have a consultation at the hospital group in bromsgrove as I'm now weighing in at a massive 21stone.
I'm all booked in to have my band fitted 5th October with Dr raj Nijjar, my pre op starts tomorrow I have decided to do the shakes for the two weeks rather than all that counting.
I haven't come across anyone yet that has had the same surgeon but have been assured that he's very good.
The support I read others get I'm kind of hoping for the same, so if anyone is at the same stage as me or has and advise its very much appreciated.

Just wanted to say hi. I am a similar age and I am just a bit ahead of you. I am booked in on Saturday for a band. X

My surgeon has a different diet to others. It's mainly been quorn as I don't eat meat, green veg, sugar free jelly and eggs. It has been hard but I am on count down now. Only 5 more days of it. I just hope my liver has shrunk enough.

Hello , wishing you all the best with the LSD and your WLS

Thankyou I'm so excited just having my first shake so my journey has just begun I will never be this fat again

The first few days will be the hardest but just stick to it. The weeks will fly by. I am actually looking forward to being able to have soup and shakes lol never thought I would hear myself say that

Where are you having your op Tracey?
I'm not a fan of soups but I can imagine I'll be looking forward to them after two weeks on shakes

Ooo I bet your getting nervous now then as it's so close, I have to go the weekend to get some blood taken, they have said that I'll be home the same day after my op.x

That's not to bad. I am hoping I can go home on the same day but I am doubting it. X yeah getting a bit nervous but busy at work so keep forgetting

Fingers crossed you do, I'm off work today but dreading going back tomorrow as the girls I work with graze all day long I'll just have to switch off from it and work harder lol my boss will be pleased,iv only told my boss about my surgery I'm just going to tell the others I'm doing a shake diet as I know some of their opinions won't be what I want to hear. Xx

I am not telling anyone either, I am always on some diet or other so they won't say anything if I'm on only shakes or soups of mush! I will tell one person but that's only so someone there knows

Yeah that's the same as me I just think the journey will be tough enough without opinions, I'm glad iv found this site thought as you don't feel so alone with it all x

Hi Anna,

Crikey your story is so similar to mine haha!!

I'm also a single mum of two battling for years, self funded due to be banded on the 10th!

I hope you find this site as much of a comfort and support as I have!

Welcome xxx

Hi Sophia,

Where are you having your op? Have you decided what VLCD your doing yet? Xx

Yes I have some shakes left over from a failed diet attempt so will use those.
