Slow? Fast? Broken? Not broken?

Hi everyone

I've really been struggling for a couple of weeks with bad eating habits and not knowing when to stop.

I'm 4 months out and my tolerance for foods/portion sizes appears to have esculated very quickly. I was eating solids from 4 weeks and pretty much eat a tea plate of food per meal now. I can tolerate chocolate, in smallish quanitities and seem to be finding my interest in food has crept right back up and I'm struggling to stave off my grazing habits.

I've lost 60lb in 4 months and feel fantastic but I just dont want it to end here. I feel like I've broken my pouch and I'm the only person that's going to fail at having a gastric bypass.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Also, I only take my multivitamin daily and Vit B injection. They stopped my other stuff because my stomach was irritated.

Anyone else feel ok with minimal vitamins? I dont feel like its having a negative impact.

Any suggestions on how I can get back on track? I appreciate all your help, I'm going to immerse my self back in to the world of WLS, I feel as things have become more 'normal', I have become more complacent....

Hi,

I'm 3 months out and I'm feeling exactly the same as you ... My weight loss has completely stalled and has remained the same for about 5 weeks. I'm finding I'm having chocolate every day but in tiny quantities (like one square) but then I maybe do this 2 or 3 times a day ?

It's soooooo hard to kick the mental habits and issues with food.

I guess we need to just give ourselves a kick up the bum and get a grip on what we're putting in our mouths ?

It's a real battle with habits...I'm over 4 yrs and it's harder than ever!..but I'm maintaining so I must be doing something right.
You will stall several times, this is the time to take measurements not go off the scales.
I promise when the scales don't show the losses your clothes will...and it's better to lose slow and steady as your skin copes much better.
I was quite a slow loser,my weight stopped at 15 months out,my start size was 24/26 I'm now 12/14...don't worry the weight will move again! All of us think the bypass won't work for us,but it does if you follow the rules.
Good luck

I'm not a good example of this, but at the monthly support group I go to, this is often a question raised. The dieticians are consistent in their reply. Get back to basics and be firm with your portions that they should only fit into a muller lite yoghurt pot. Three meals a day, and maximum of two snacks.

Be firm with your head, your surgery is to help you put into place your new lifestyle changes.

Good luck :)

Thanks everyone, I know what I have to do, so it's all up to me! I'm eating a tea plate at the moment, May switch back to my ramakin dish

The other thing I keep thinking is, a Muller light cup full is not forever is it? I was told a tea plate measurement

I eat from a teaplate, but you have to be careful not to pile it on, if you want to keep losing

Ok cool, I'll keep doing that then x

I have to say that is impressive. Im 13 months out and cant manage a teaplate of food most of the time! As for chocolate, its a pregnancy craving and my body is allowing it (this week...) otherwise that makes me dump good and proper!

Just think, what dya need and want more? A slimmer figure or an extra few bites every meal time? I know what I'd chooose ;) x

i'm sorry if this sounds harsh girls, but if you struggle with old habits creeping back in, try not to get any chocolate in, and if you are living with somebody else who wants chocolate, ask them to hide it. I know that sounds harsh, but it's for the best. Me and my hubby never buy treats at all, however we do allow ourselves a treat when we go out. It's always best to keep temptations out of the house. As for weight stalling, this could be quite normal and you shouldn't worry. Stick to protein first, and maybe stick to the 20/20/20 rule, and you should lose weight again.

In fairness, I think I've panicked too soon because I've not had a dip in what I have lost. Since posting this, I've Dropped 4lb, so I must be doing something right.......however.....immersing myself back in the WLS forums, because of panic has reminded me that I need to keep active in the WLS community and utilise WLS support, to keep my knowledge at its best :thanks guys!

4 and a half stone down in 4 months :)

that's fab, well done!

Hi Kay marie I just want to say I am feeling the same just now. Old overeating habits are back and I'm eating everything and anything. I seem to be able to tolerate a fair size portion. Feel like I've paid lots of money and went through a big op with no change. How are you getting on now?
