Petersens hernia

Just got home from hospital yesterday following an operation to correct a 'twirly' bowel and a petersens hernia. Had about 10 days of fairly serious abdominal and back pain, and a raft of tests before they finally contacted my bypass surgeon. Just wondered if anyone else had had this, and did it reoccur? Thanks.

I'm pre-op so can't offer any personal experience of this. However at my appointment with my consultant last Saturday he outlined this as a possible complication of having RNY. He said that he always places a stitch to hold the intestines in place, and that although this doesn't mean it might not happen it greatly reduces the chances. So hopefully your team will have done something similar when sorting yours out.

I hope you start to feel better soon x

Hope you recover soon...thank god the doctors spotted this type of hernia, left untreated it's life threatening.
Rest up x
