hello, I am new here and am about to have 3 consultations with different Weightloss surgical specialists...I've battled for so many years and tried so many weight loss methods with little success and although I was considering the balloon initially , I have been guided towards the gastric band with my bmi of 35....I'm really keen to know the best success stories and patient post care recieved...as its like a maze trying to know which Weightloss company to go with...can anyone help?

Hello and very warm welcome to you! Can't offer any answers to your questions but I'm very sure someone will pop by very soon!

I can't answer your questions either but wanted to say hi and welcome too :)

Morning parsley
My inspiration on here is Crystalrainbow .. She's had Band for a few years now and she has never had a fill ! Ever ! She's lost a ton of weight ..
I've had my band fitted now for just over 3 weeks and I. Feeling pretty damn good to be honest .. I have a few moments of urges to eat junk , but I try to make sure I have homemade food ready .. This is essential to our weight loss .. My team have told me in no uncertain terms , I am not to eat any processed food , nothing .. This sounds good in practice but I know there are going to be those days when it can't be helped , so I'm planning on putting some slimmers world ready meals in the freezer ..
My BMI was over 50 and I had to self fund ..
I've lost a total of 32lb in the total 5 weeks pre op and post op which I am so happy with ..
There's a thread on here called weigh in at the Banders cafe .. Come on and join in , where you get lots of advice and help ..

Hi Parsley, welcome to the forum. Similar to you, my bmi was 36 and I was pointed in the direction of the band. My starting weight was just over 15st and after 12 weeks I am just shy of 12st. Having struggled for the last decade with my weight I now wish it was something I had done sooner!

With regards to which provider to go for I would google the surgeons and go with the one you feel most comfortable with - I think the majority of providers provide pretty similar aftercare packages

Good luck x

My BMI was 32 and I was advised a sleeve.
It depends on the surgeon you see and the type of food issues you have that have led to being overweight. I was a binge eater. Good luck and listen to the advice you are given at your consultation. Do lots of reading on various sites on the internet for a broad perspective on the surgeries.

Hi Parsley,

Good luck with your consultations.

I had a GB with Healthier Weight 4 weeks ago. My surgeon was Mr Super. He's renowned in his field. I think he's fitted the most bands in the UK!!

The aftercare has been first class and I feel very well looked after.

If you do go for a band getting the right after care is really important so I would advise for you to research that part really well as most surgeons work for several providers.

You'll get a good feel for the company you wish to go for I'm sure. Whatever you decide you'll be sure to receive loads of support here x x x x

Good luck with it all. I remember it being a real minefield!
