Acid Reflux

Merry Christmas Everyone,

Have any bypass people had any probs with acid/reflux?

Im 7 months out, not had any problems so far. Ive had acid for 5 days. Ive not eaten anything different & seems to have come from nowhere.

Ive been taking my omeprazole so feeling a bit paranoid. Nothing seems to shift it, Gaviscon is doing nothing.

My doctor has doubled my omeprazole to 40mg a day to try & nip it in the bud.

From ive read online its unusual in bypass patients so even more paranoid now.

It 'could' be your gall bladder @Andy74 so it's worth getting that ruled out.

The body metabolises fat during rapid weight loss, which causes the liver to secrete extra cholesterol into the bile, potentially causing gallstones.

Whatever it is, I hope you get it sorted soon x

Ive already had my gall bladder out years ago so i know its not that.

Thanks. So do i its really getting me down.

Stones can still be in the bile duct, I only know this as my mother in law still suffers after having hers removed.

Hopefully its not that though.
