Anyone converted from band to bypass?

I had a gastric band fitted 4 years ago and have had lots of problems for 18 months. Surgeon has now said it's time for band to come out and convert to bypass.
Has anyone else had this conversion?
Is it much bigger op? Longer in hospital?
What was your recovery time like?
How are you now?
