Hi, I used to be really slim, always a size 10 and super fit then due to illness I have gained 6 stone over the past years and its effecting my health dramatically. I cannot bear to look at old pics of myself as its upsets me so much. My mam and sister are embarking on a weight loss regime and I would love to try with them. I am usually successful and manage to lose a stone but then put it back on + more which it why I have resorted to trying for surgery. I feel very unsupported in my choice and without the help on this forum would not be able to manage to go through with it. I just want to thank everyone for the help given and for all your replys to my posts. Thanks xxx

Hi Polly,

I was always a size 10 too up until 12 years ago. I had a horrible break up with a horrible man. I stayed in, never wanted to go out and ate and ate and ate. I decided on wls because i have tried every diet in the book with not much success. I have no willpower which never helped. I also hate looking at old piccies but I am now slowly getting back there again and I can't wait to start having piccies taken!
You need support. If you can't get it at home, then this forum is great for it. When are you hoping for your surgery? Good luck with it! xx

It is hard when those around us do not support our choices, or for people like me who haven't shared their choice and keep it secret so don't have that support either.

Although I've always been big, battled with weight since I was 7, dieting since I was 10 and for 30 years, I had surgery last august. I love my band and the life and hopefully a future life that it is helping me achieve - sometimes we just have to do these things for us.

:)

i thought my mum wasnt supportive, and i plucked the courage to ask her, all it was was that she was worried due to the surgery. now 6 months on, last saw her at xmas, she was like wow. but i do wish it would make her see that she desperately needs to do something about her weight. but good luck to you x

Sorry to hear you aren't getting the support you want at home, sometimes its hard for the ones that love us to relate or apprecate how we feel and why we want this.

Another former skinny - fatty and now skinny again here ;)

there was a tv programme on about the bariatric ward on sunderland royal and my closet family complained about the waste of nhs money on such operations as ours. It is desperation that leads us to have the surgery and not an easy choice and i wish people would understand this!!

Hello yep another skinny to fatty waitin to be skinny again :) my weight is also due to health problems and the many miscarragies i have had since my last child 13 yrs ago. Hope your family come round to support you in the end. xx
