 5 days post op is it normal ta feel so hungery??? i can av my dinner/ lunch n within 10/15 mins i feel like i,ve not had anythin... but i,m scared to have anythin else... :gen147:

I agree with the post above , sometimes head hunger and thirst hunger are mistaken, make sure you drink plenty of water during the day, If you eating and 10/15 mins later and you ate a reasonable size meal then its more likely to be thirst hunger, if you feel this is not the case then try eating foods that keep you fuller for longer potatoes, eggs, oatmeal porridge, beans, etc...

Hi KP

I imagine it is different for everyone. I think we were done on the same day (20th) and I havent felt hungry at all, Im having difficulty managing to make sure I have taken in the full 4 pints worth made up of milky drinks, water, soups, fruit juice and yoghurts.

It may be that you are not sipping enough throughout the day, but avoid taking any water for about half an hour before a meal (milky or soupy or fruity drink) and the same for about 30 minutes after as you need that time for your body to absorb the nutrients and you dont want to stretch the pouch.

If you dont mind me asking, what is it you are having at meal times and how often? I am offline for a few hours soon but will check this thread later and reply if I can think of anything else.

Hope the hunger (be it head or other) goes soon though Xx

Hi KP

I feel hungry lots. I moved on to mash and gravy (very runny) after a week. I started with 3 tea spoons then increased slowly. I've been fine and now I have mash and light phili and chew it 20 times b4 i swallow lol.

I keep thinking have I even had it done or do i just have the scar but the weight is falling off so it must have been. Its different for everyone.

Just take it slow and introduce slowly

Hi swizzlestick I,ve been havin a wheat a bicks fa breakie n half a tin of soup n a small petiis filou yogurt fa dinner n t. drinkin horlicks n water, e told me to have very sloppy food, so i,ve had some scambled egg fa dinner, mash carrots n gravy for my t today very mushed up but it made a change from the soup. but still felt hungery soon after.. i feel like i.m doin something wrong....

It probably just means that your swelling has gone down already and unless you had a fill as part of the fitting your band won't be providing much by way of restriction. So if you think back to before your surgery, you'd have felt hungry shortly after half a tin of soup I'm sure!

I think Shel is right. I Think I have seen people say that it takes a while to reach a point where the swelling has gone down and the band has been adjusted before they feel satiated. I initially thought you had had a bypass, apologies. Im all confuddled these days lol sorry. If you speak to the dietician this week they may be able to give you some more advice if it is still a problem.

Its horrible when you think your to blame when in reality it probably isnt anything to do with what you are or are not doing.

Take care Xx

I would try the drinking of water too. I felt hungry so started on the runny porridge before I should have done. I did'nt harm anything but some people are told to start on the sloppies alot earlier than others. It depends on the team and dietician as they are all different. The swelling round your band will have gone down so its practically back to normal untill you have your 1st fill. Did your surgeon put a small fill in when doing the op? You will need will power if not but it won't be for long.Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

i felt starving whilst i was stil in hosp, my mum bought me a milkshake and that filled me up.
