I've just read this....I'm glad I don't live in Rotherham!
It is so unfair...and so far away from the original ethos of the NHS.
It's about time it was put right.
ahh hadn't read the comments! Yes they're ignorant...I try not to let them get to me....but then having had my surgery I'm in a privileged position I guess.
I've not read the comments but thought the article was very true. It didn't beat us up for needing the surgery and in fact says some people are encouraged to gain more weight just so they can reach the criteria for surgery. A good friend of mine was told she'd need to be 5stone heavier for her surgery!!! Now that really is shocking news..
Blo*dy PCT's ..........its so unfair, I really feel for people who live in these areas. My PCT is actually one of the ok ones who follow NICE guidelines but why should I get surgery and someone who lives a few miles maway not??? Totally unjust! x
I've just left a reply, you are so right Charis but the ignorant one got to me hee hee so i've given it back i need to write a hundred lines "i must not let them get to me" Prats xx
Wow. Interesting to see that my home PCT, North Tees and Hartlepool, 'carries out' the largest number of ops. Actually, they might fund the most, but I don't think they do any surgery.
