Long story, please stay with me.

I enquired at my doctors about a year ago for a lap band - I was told that Walsall PCT guidelines are now bmi of over 50 or over 40 with other problems.

My bmi is about 45 with at the time no other probs.

Last week I went to see my consultant with regards hip pain from a disease of the hip I had from when I was younger - he has said I NEED to lose weight to reduce the weight on my hip and reduce the risks of surgery which may be needed in the future.

He has written to my doctor recommending formal weight loss management and not ruling out lap band surgery.

Will this give me more chance of getting the surgery with a consultant saying I need it - or do I still not have a chance?

I am going to doctors next week to discuss it with him - but just wanted your opinions.

Many thanks
