OK - home from op all going well. Now I've decided that I am probably having too much liquid? Is that possible. I've had in total 1.1 litres which includes small protein shake, 1/2 slimfast, water, tea, beef consome. Am I being a daft bat? Should I be drinking more? Probaby got fuzzy head still!!

Hi hun - I was told to drink 2.5 litres in a day - I really struggled with this!!! More when it's hot. Just drink as much as you can - don't think you can have too much fluid when it's hot. x x

No I don't think you can drink too much. I'm a bander and was told to drink at least 2 litres of fluids a day. I'm not sure on bypassers but I would have thought it was pretty much the same. I'm sure an experienced bypasser will come along soon and tell you. good luck and keep drinking.

2 litres a day is the guide line xxx

2 litres a day more if its warm like the last few days just keep sipping away - our clinical nurse advised us to fill a 2 litres bottle and put it in the fridge and keep topping a sports bottle up and sipping it. When its gone you know youhave had your minimum requirement and anaything on top of that is a bonus. It is hard in the 1st few days but as the swelling goes down you should be able to drink easier.

My trouble is I forget sometimes to eat and drink as I don't always feel hungry.

Did you ever think you'd get to the point where you weren't hungry and had to make yourself eat!!!!

You can't get too many fluids in post-op so don't worry. You should be sipping all the time so you are doing great. Just keep at it.
