:) Morning everyone,
This afternoon I have my very 1st appointment with Kirsten Mcdougall specialist nurse and another nurse at the whittington along with a group of other peeps.
It is an appointment to have the education session it is after this I then get my 1st appointment made with a consultant :D:D
My husband Gary is coming with me it is a 3 hr session, I am excited nervous scared .
I actually see my GP Monday for a wiegh in and I have put on a few Kgs :( so this really has come at a good time.
I am apprehensive of walking into the session or being wheeled in my wheelchair;) because people say I look ok as I am tall and I carry my weight well, only they don't see the real me underneath my clothes also the scales don't lie do they ! It makes me feel a fraud when people say that to me :( .

Well wish me luck just getting ready to go, Gary is driving me us there due to train strikes so we are leaving early to find the place and also get one of the limted disable parking spaces.
Hugs xx

Good luck Diana!
Hope it all goes well, you should find it very informative and useful. And it's another step closer............
Love and hugs

Good luck Dianna. These meetings are quite good and just remember everyones there for the same reason so there will be all shapes and sizes. They will be just as nervous as you and probably feel like everyones looking at them too so DON'T worry yourself, Big hugs you will be fine. xxGaynorxx

Hi Pft,

Don't worry about using your wheelchair. I went in my wheelchair on my first appointment. I was in a lot of pain that day and knew I wouldn't manage the walking. People are often suprised at how much I weigh as I'm told I carry it well to. As you said the scales don't lie (sadley) LOL.

Don't get me on to Hospital Disable Parking Spaces. I often arrive 2-3 hour before my appointment just to get parking . Then you have a maximum stay of 3 hours. Fortunatley the sercurity guard turns a blind eye as long as you tell him your situation :).

good luck!!! let us know how it all goes,

I hope it all goes well for you.

Evening,
Well my dear friends thank you for all the luck you sent me I think it helped alot as we had a very good afternoon :).
Lizzy you are right it was very informative I come away with lots to read.

Kirsten said being really honest the longest anyone will wait is roughly a yr and that starts from your GP referal to having op It also includes any test etc.
Usually its around 8 months although some do go through quicker if they have no proplems or extra test.
I felt quietly confident about everything but I don't want to believe anything is concrete untill I have seen the consultant which should be inside of 10 weeks, after consultant if no test like the sleep apnea endio pychologist etc you then get your assesment, it is from here the wait is a little longer. I really don't mind waiting, if I count from my GP referal I know I should be done and dusted by March 2010 to me thats ok it gives me more time to chat with all you lovely friends about your post op adventures ;).

I have to go to at least one walk in group session before surgery, Gary said he will come with me again, It would be nice to meet others in the same boat and at different stages and even some people from here that are also whittington patients.

Must go have not been home long, it was awful on the way home we got lost  it seem to take ages we could not find one sign post for directions for ages, of course we eventually made it home but boy do I hurt! and we are both tired.
I have more hospitals tomorrow, I have my Morphine pump refill  .
Night god bless xxx

Glad it went well for you Diana - the ball is really rolling now! Zxx

Its all positive now and like you say time will fly by.
